polls are worth more when you're polling unbiased people

But they're not unbiased. They have a vested interest in seeing LSU fail. Asking Alabama fans or A&M fans or shite-stirring media types what they think LSU should do is ridiculous. Even if they know what LSU should do, they'll say something else because THEY WANT LSU TO FAIL. So does anyone who thinks their opinion means anything.

Let's say after 8 years we don't win the west, you still cool with Les as the coach?

i've already stated numerous times that if we don't win the West next year its probably a good time for a change....but only if we have someone lined up and ready to go. Prolonged coaching searches never end well and i'd rather keep Miles if it came to that.

i was glad to see Tom Herman resign with Houston. if shite goes haywire next season we should make a strong push for him.

When did Tom Herman "resign"?

Last I knew, he was still coach at Houston.

Ohhh. You meant "re-sign."

The positive opinion of Miles in the media

America loves an underdog. It is just funny that some will dispute what the media says if its negative but when its positive the media is all of a sudden right. The media has clowned CLM for years.

If Alabama fans ask me whether they should fire Saban, I'm damn sure telling them yes. If A&M fans ask me if they should fire Sumlin, I'm damn sure telling them no. Since I'm unbiased, they should listen to me, right?

Listening to players is how we got Mike Archer instead of Steve Spurrier in 1987.

nope. although he's one of my favorite coaches....you can thank Arnsparger for that one.

Well put. Most fans & media have a problem when a mediocre coach is fired, unless its THEIR coach. Then its a good thing.

We could never win a game and he'll still want Les as coach. He's a Les Miles fan, and Les is all that matters to him. He couldn't give a rat's arse about how LSU does.

FYI....they're not going to take your advice in a poll. Do you actually think the people that took the poll (and this wasn't just SEC fans dumbass) thought to themselves "I bet if i say they should keep them they'll actually listen to me"? It was a bunch of fricking internet polls. stop trying to find something that's not there.

That's a fair statement.

I disagree. Sometimes you just have to take some chances.

Players were screaming for Archer to be hired. Regardless of whether it was because of their screaming, we did what the players wanted, and look where it got us.

I never put any stock in a player's statement of support for his current coach. Players always do that. It's when they don't that there might be reason to listen to them, because it's so rare for players to do anything else that there must something really wrong for that to happen.

The CLM lovers should understand this more than any of us...CLM was definitely a "chance"...he worked out

The polls I'm talking about are polls asked of the nation regarding firing miles. The media look is in the context of there opinion on Miles being fired, which is well documented.
The poll taken was based on his record and the media love given to Miles the days prior. Most taking that poll voted based on overall record and the statements by the media. The same media who bashed Miles at every opportunity for most of his tenure. So, unbiased? Not really.

The Vegas mention relates to their odds for winning the championship next year, with Miles as a coach.
Vegas is about money; get a bunch of people to believe the hype, they put down money. When the championship doesn't happy, Vegas walks away fat and happy.

Not to mention, SECW fans WANT Miles to stay because it's becoming an easy W.

I'm not arguing for or against their opinion, I'm simply saying it is what it is. Again, the context of my discussion in this thread is important.

I don't believe their opinion is some sinister ploy to dismantle LSU. I believe they truly think Miles is a great coach. It's not a far fetched opinion that requires some ulterior motive.

there are many many more instances of programs "taking a chance"...going through a prolonged coaching search and ending up with shite than there are those that hit homeruns.

Texas...who has more money than God and is in Austin...got turned down 6 freaking times. Michigan...after doing the same thing....made sure they had Harbaugh lined up for the next hire before pulling the trigger.

I'd defend my family if they were wrong. Doesn't mean everyone on the outside looking in doesn't have a valid point.

What do you want him to say?
