Agree man.
A year ago a kid hit me doing 85.
I didnt even take legal action. Kids aren't perfect and neither am I. I'd never want a kid to die for me. Jesus already did.

We view suicide differently these days and I am not saying that's right or wrong.

At one time in the world it was viewed as a way to release one from shame or debt etc. I will take it as the young man did this. Blood washes out.

Honestly at this point it might sound harsh. But "I don't care"

Why is it so bad to respect a person's decision that they simply don't want to live anymore?

Because generally it comes from a place of deep depression, which means the individual is not in a rational frame of mind. “Simply” and “don’t want to live anymore” should not be used in the same sentence, as it is not even remotely a simple topic.

As someone who has been suicidal, and is now in a much better place thanks to the people around me, I am grateful more people don’t agree with your take on the subject.

Some mature quicker than others man.

I don’t know his background and upbringing, but watching him just in his football career at LSU, he was clearly an emotional kid and probably less mature than, say, Will Campbell who was younger than him.

You don’t know peoples circumstances. It’s not like a light switch can be flicked at 21 and everyone is ready to handle everything the world throws at them. He was a young man who showed flaws and also showed humility in his playing days. He was growing and needed to grow more. I don’t think he was a bad kid, just a flawed kid.

There will be a number of opinions and ways this will all be looked at. The bottom line is that a young man died today, far too young.

Why do you keep giving Lacy the benefit of the doubt?

He wasn’t drunk

He’s just a kid

He didn’t know anyone was killed

It was just a mistake

Blah blah blah

He messed up and it probably cost him his shot at pro football but it didn’t mean his life was over. This sucks man. I feel so badly for his family

He’s a kid. Kids do dumb shite. Yes it was a major mistake but it’s not like he was drunk at 4am or planned to hurt somebody.
He was 24 years old and completely finished with college. He was not a kid. Far from it.

That’s kind of his point, I’d imagine. Suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness, where you ruin the lives of the people around you to escape your issues. Whatever pain and misery he was in, is a fraction of what his parents are feeling right now.

So many RIP’s going around on social media for this dude from Angel Reese to Antonio Brown, and I’m sure not an ounce of consideration for the other man he caused the death of.

Tragic situation all around, but goes to show how we as a society prop up athletes/celebrities/public figures over the “ordinary” human being.

I was going off of some things I’ve read

You don’t know the facts and his circumstances either

If the kid had a history of criminal wrongdoing then I wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. By most accounts he was a good kid who made a bad mistake. He didn’t premeditate it or plan to hurt anyone, he allowed an immature action and judgement to change the life of two people in a split second.

Either way, it’s tragic all around.

That is not just one mistake.

He was driving foolishly, carelessly, and without regard for anyone else’s life. He caused an accident that killed a man. After the accident, he didn’t even have the decency to stay and call for help. He fled the scene, so that he wouldn’t have any connection or consequences for his reckless actions.

I’m sorry he chose to end his life. But, the choices that led to his final decision were his as well. Not staying to help, or to call for help were wrong. The pain of that event, and the consequences to be faced were too much for him to accept. So he left those burdens for family and friends.

My prayer go to them and the family and friends of the victim of careless acts of Kyren Lacy.

Because like a lot of grown men here he worships LSU athletes and believes because they play ball they are somehow above everyone else and deserves the benefit of doubt more than others.

Sad he’s gone, suicide is never the answer as it only creates more pain for those around you. It’s actually very selfish.

This is a horrible take. My brother committed suicide, and I have been suicidal and overcome my issues. Unless you have been there, you won’t understand. But my brother was not selfish. So far from it. He was broken and needed help.

Agreed. I hope some people take a second thought now before shredding college aged kids for mistakes.

I know the facts as they are presented in the legal filings.

I’m not sure his circumstances are relevant.

It is, but he was the cause of his own issues. It all could have been prevented.

How many times does it need to be pointed out to you that he was a 24 year old man. Not a kid. Not a child.

We have 18-22 year old MEN serving our country in the military.
