Being fit and protected by a professional o-line goes a long long way obviously.
If he doesn’t Uncle Rico away a bunch of picks or fold like a tent when they inevitably bust his arse he’ll have a career methinks.

They're probably trying to get his trade stock up. Obviously this is Mahomes team but if it looks like you have a weapon back there, somebody will pay good money. A player like Nuss, as good as he's playing, is a sound insurance policy behind an injured PM. But he's also like the Pats building up Garoppolo, Brissett, and Cassel. Future trade asset.

But the notion is laughable
there hasn’t been an open competition for the backup spot. It’s been locked down since the day Fields signed. And if there was any semblance of a question regarding that, he’d be playing the last preseason game The only open question regarding the Chiefs QB room is if they keep Nuss or try to stuff him on the practice squad hoping he’ll clear waivers. That’s it

That’s awesome, and the dude has balled out. However, playing in the final preseason games doesn’t mean
I believe virtually no starters play in the final preseason game

Still a likely scenario based on the fact that they are playing him the entire game. The last preseason game is just to get revenue from suckers. They don’t want any important players getting hurt.
