Is anyone else watching all the moves and shakes and hiring of staff and actually pleased?

I'm not saying I like anything Alleva has his hands in.

I'm saying I like the hard candy eaters on the sidelines.

And he hired Steve Ensminger as permanent OC. O will get credit when he accomplishes something

What has he done? Worst recruiting class in a while. Worst defensive back depth in a while, worst RB talent in a long while. Hired an OC from within that no one wants. Has Mickey Joseph coaching.

I am willing to forget his history. He just needs to quit sucking

Hard to forget about O’s history when the hires he makes are part of his history. Personal friends and former co-workers.

Extremely hard to top Hill, Fournette, and Guice. CB depth is a concern; however, front 7 depth is elite.

The defensive staff is very strong, and I’ve always given O credit for one thing: he’ll always have a top DL

With that said the offensive staff is a total fricking shite show minus the OL coach.

He's gotta get it together this year. He already screwed up with Canada and Joseph last year. Everything he's said that he wanted is in place and he's gonna get his shot. It's gonna be interesting to see how he handles the pressure this year.

I know no two seasons are the same and a lot of our RBs signees depend on in-state talent, but I can hardly remember a year before this one that we didn’t have either one big time premier back and two more that could start for damn near any other school in the country, or at the very least a stable of three great backs that could all start elsewhere.
Not saying that the cupboard is or isn’t empty, we’ll see, but at the same time let’s not act like getting awesome running backs here has been a rarity.

I completely agree. Still doesn't excuse Coach O and Mickey for dropping the ball on Travis Etienne.

Alleva conducted no search for a HC, and Orgeron didn’t conduct a search for an OC. See how incompetence trickles down from the top?

Can't divorce his history from the present.

There's always hope with new staff moves. With new staff logically you expect new results. But it's still the same guy at the top. As he said, he's the head coach and they'll do what he wants. So I can't see how new staff helps if the buck still stops with him.

It's not just the history you have to ignore, but the continual miscues.

I never did understand why they didn't offer both Surtain and Goodrich considering the lack of CB depth.

So what you're saying is the only way to think positively is to be selective about how we think about the coach?

So let's say if we lose a couple of games, is it then a best practice to say "Forget about those two games for a second.....,"? Please inform me on the exact things we should forget to make sure I have appropriate expectations. History? Losses? Wasting $1.5 million on a coach? Not hiring the best OC? Not letting coaches coach? What is allowable to remember and what are we supposed to forget?

I would appreciate that you make these things clear so I can forge an accurate assessment of the coach. Thanks in advance.
