I got rerouted from direct flight to a stop in Denver on SWA.

You get what you pay for. Quit flying that cattle car

Similar situation with Southwest. Was planning a Father's Day weekend trip from New Orleans to Kansas City, gonna see a Royals game. We each have about $600 in Southwest credits from cancelled stuff last summer during COVID. Saw they had the perfect DIRECT flights, great times, great price --just over $200.
After checking out a few other things for the trip, the next day (yesterday) I went to go buy the tickets-- and they aren't there. GONE completely. Not sold out, not "unavailable"-- GONE. The only flights are longer with connections, AND are more expensive.
I called to check and the tele-representative said they are having a big shift in flights going from direct to indirect nationwide.
I wonder if Southwest is in some kind of financial trouble...I may want to use those credits soon.

It is very easy to get the companion pass with SW. “what you pay for” ends up being almost zero bc you can fly two people and only pay $5 each way in taxes until your miles run out. Well worth it.

Did the same thing with my flights, went from direct to indirect, was able to get on a decent flight there with a stop, but the return flights seem like a bitch.

lol...that makes you back out?
You know, there are other airlines.

I'm back in. Switched to a one-stop each way.
Why on earth would the computer simply assign me a two-stop flight taking 11 hours when one-stop options were available? Baffling.

SWA is great, but Delta’s flight between MSY and LAX is an uncharacteristically excellent offering from them.

Airlines do weird shite. They switched my denver flight from super early morning to the midnight red-eye once. I changed that with the quickness.

I had the same issue. Received an email this morning that both direct flights were no longer available.
The suggested flights had 2 stops each, but I changed them to one stop each way for no extra charge. Obviously I would prefer nonstop, especially since we are bringing our kids, but oh well its not a deal breaker. We have tons of SW points, so the flights only cost a few bucks per person.
We are flying Fri-Mon

John Wayne can be problematic on the return flight. Early September is the hottest time of the year in S. California, and that airport has a very short takeoff strip. Excess heat can delay your return flight home--

I just got notice that Southwest changed my DIRECT flights to and from Los Angeles to flights with not one but TWO stops.
Charter a private jet like the rest of the ballers here.

A legitimate excuse to extend the trip is exactly what I’m hoping for

Southwest attracts you with a non-stop, well priced flight. Within a week or two they will frick you with a changed flight and maybe again later before you fly. I had a direct flight from my home city to Vegas for a GC hiking trip. I then received a notice of a single stop and a delay of 4 hours before the second leg. Then I received another change that sent me to Orlando, then Chicago, then Vegas and it became a 11 hour trip.

This thread makes me miss the old direct flight from MSY to Bob Hope. I used to love skipping all that LAX bullshite.

It's also about $200 per person more expensive than SWA is offering right now, and almost double the price I got from SWA a month ago.
