re: For the "Let's throw Harris to the wolves and see what he can do" crowd....

What I'm saying is that the threat of passing will help in all areas of the offense. Teams don't respect Jennings one iota with their constant stacking of the box. Would Harris change that?
And I'm saying, in spots, Harris can do his thing.

I think Harris is better. I think we will be a better team with him at QB. My biggest concern is him getting injured...the line sucks and he is not built to take the pounding he will get.

Rivers should be starting but he sucks
Lol
Prescott should have been favored over Rivers in that recruiting cycle.

I don't even understand your point. you want him to play a LOT, but you don't want him to completely have the job. Makes no sense.

understood.
i think most people are just weary of seeing an offense that's stuck in the mud...even against shitty teams.

Could not agree more with the OP. The coaches need to develop Harris and, to a lesser degree, protect him.

No one is saying pencil him in permanently for 10 weeks regardless of what is happening to him.
That is basically what I am saying, whether you agree or disagree with the Lee comparison. However, it seems like there are those who believe that it is simply time to discard Jennings altogether, which I think is not a good idea.

trust me...I am too. I'm not gonna say what Harris did against State didn't make it move just a little bit.

Outside of the State finish (no rush), Harris hasn't done anything to show me he's ready.
Outside dramatically outperforming the starter in the biggest game to date, he has done nothing?
Those 3 snaps against Wisky including 2 handoffs told you he wasn't ready?
Or was it his 4/5 against SHS that showed you he wasn't ready?
What has Jennings done to show you he is ready (9/21 against Wisky?). No offensive TDs vs Miss St? 13/26 for 157 yards in a game where we are down several scores for most of it.
He was terrible in the Miss St game, and was well below average against Wisky (unless he willed Hilliard to go nuts and Diarse to break 3 tackles)

Bring him along slowly. Give him more snaps than he's been getting. Regardless of if you agree or disagree, I think it's clear what he's saying.

we
I mean shite, during the game, I saw Jennings skip a 12 yard curl to Dupre or something like that and made me think wtf? then i see a 40 yard rope to dural on the out with 20 ticks left from Harris and you start to wonder what would have happened if he's inserted earlier.
I know Harris was doing this against prevent/more lax defense, but I'm not sure if Jennings would have been as successful as Harris was during that stretch.
Heck, he even made check down passes look easy.

I think most don't think that way. I think we see Jennings with a low ceiling who at the very best can be serviceable - and he is not consistently at his very best.
It is an evolving situation, but right now going into a NM St game it is a no brainer who should start.

It's fans like you that I just can't deal with. I'm out.

Makes complete sense. I think for now, this situation calls for both guys to play about equal time, with the emphasis on giving Harris a fair chance to show what he can do. If the coaches don't think he is ready to play a full game, get him in for some series....digest what he is doing.....then when the other QB is playing, Harris can settle himself on the sidelines and learn from what he is watching.
I am typically not a fan of 2QB system, but I think for now it might be the way to go until Harris wins the job outright...or proves that he isn't ready.

Jarrett Lee
STAHP! They share no similarities except being in a QB battle with a terrible QB.
Jarrett Lee in 2008 threw fade away passes almost every time. He didn't have the arm strength to get away with them either.
Expecting a guy with a bigger arm, more mobility, and a better pocket presence than 2008 Lee to be Lee from 2008 is asinine.

I love how people complain all the time that 08 ruined Miles, he can't get over it, and he's handcuffed the offense ever since. Then we see multiple threads about how Les shouldn't throw Harris to the wolves because it will ruin him like Lee. Can we at least be consistent in our beliefs?
Oh and Harris won't be like Lee in 08. He has one thing that Lee desperately lacked: escapability. Jefferson had it in 08. Admittedly he didn't light the world on fire by any means that year, but his escapability it lowered his learning curve and helped his margin for error.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
He was terrible against MSU - that is not debatable.

Sorry you don't like facts.

I don't necessarily disagree, but why the focus on whether Harris has earned the right?
What has Jennings done against a real opponent this year to demonstrate that he has earned the starting role?

Lee shouldn't be an excuse anymore
If a player has the talent and is the better option, put him in and let him take his lumps. If the player isn't a completely unconfident (and for lack of a better term) pussy and our staff has any ability to develop whatsoever, he will come out of it just fine after 3-4 years. Just like normal talented freshman all over the country in every position on the field
When lack of development and good play become the norm at the position. It's no longer because every player we put there is just like Lee. It is something deeper and systematical with our staff

a few weeks back after the scrimmage I pretty much said if jennings is the guy our OL and D better be dominant.....well we're 0-2 there
Jennings simply isn't capable of the type of play we'll need to compete against the better teams. If we have to eat the occasional turnover while Harris learns, so be it.
