I'd love to see us come out in a spread. Harris and LF in the backfield, have Dupre, Diarse, Dural, and Quinn lined up, and just see what happens.

AMEN. Go 3 wide with Dural, Malachi and Quinn and put KH and LF as split backs in the backfield.

Those two guys running flat routes plus the combo routes you can run in a 3 WR set....that is a defensive nightmare!

So it's ok to throw Jennings to the Wolves but not Harris?
oh u know, those 4 games that he's started give him that much more experience than Harris.

The "safe with the ball" shite is outstanding
Like I said, the ball is very safe when AJ is playing. At 50% completion rate it stays out of our guys hands too

It's clear that "safe" isn't going to cut it this season. I think it's all in with Harris or settle for a rebuilding season.

In 2008 we only played Lee because Hatch got hurt. We were about to ride into the 6-6 sunset with Hatch at QB

ETA: We actually would have been 4-8 with hatch prolly. Carolina, Aubie, and Miss St would have been losses. So that injury saved our asses

However, do we need to re-visit 2008 to see what "throwing a QB to the wolves" can do?

Every situation is different

that's what some people are not catching onto. This 2014 offense is not in need of a play it safe game manager.

it needs a playmaker.

Jennings is not a playmaker.

The other guy is.

What do you get when you can't run, can't block, and can't pass? you get down 34-10 at home.

Harris could at least provide a semblance of a passing threat that Jennings can't.

Right. The "play it safe" philosophy worked more often than not in the past because we had solid OL & DL. The absence of those coupled with all of the spread offenses in the SEC make relying on that an option that will send you into the cellar.

Jennings is a whopping 1 year older

Jennings is actually younger than Harris.

I did not know that but I guess I could apply the 1 year older as meaning on campus.

btw..how is he younger?

Jesus, come on people. Harris isn't Lee, and freshman start all over the country every year at big programs.

You start the better QB. Period. I could see next week splitting time in order to give him some time to study the play book even more, but Harris should start vs Auburn.

Jennings is not seeing the blitz, secondary coverages, or throwing accurate passes on time. These are all reasons why you would start a veteran over a more talented but inexperienced QB. Jennings is going to get himself killed if he doesn't learn to read blitzes better.
Jennings isn't alone in the call keyed off Mike, but he has final say over Center, and audible out presnap. That's a lot of the "lack o chemistry" you hear about and results in a lot of the stunt wiffs, missed pickups, etc.
Dawgs were working it good, but Bama will destroy with the disguises they run if Grimes doesn't straighten this out.

miles is the opposite of what he used to be. there is no misdirection, there is no effort to fool anyone.

it's milesball now. smash the other team up the middle for 3/4's of the game and see what happens.

got a field goal out of that strategy saturday until harris comes in

That's irrelevant, it's about putting the QB out there that gives us the best chance to win.

Les Miles has more info, none of us have seen more practice reps of the 2 than he has. But given the Jordan Jefferson debacle, and given what I've seen of Jennings vs Harris this season, it's really hard to make the case that Jennings gives us the best chance to win right now.

I've gotten to the point where I just don't trust the coaches anymore. Welter should not be starting based on his play on the field. Neither should ronald martin or anthony jennings.

if you can't get it done at LSU and perform at a high level, there's a spot on the bench for you.
