but if they don't win their position battle, should we expect them to bide their time entirely from the sideline?

What if they transfer from X school to Y and they are still on the bench?

Whats the point in recruiting when 90 percent of the class doesn't even make it to year 3
just shows how stupid it is for people to freak out about recruiting classes now in this era of football.

I was very surprised Atkins ever got a LSU offer to begin with. While he was a good player at Jonesboro Hodge nothing ever extremely stood out with him. He just always seemed like a ULM type college player.

They chose poorly, e.g., Walker Howard.

There needs to be a 2 yr minimum before you can just leave. You basically explained why so no need for me to reiterate it.

Brown, Causey, and Johnson are not good enough to play here. High school and portal additions this year will bring in better players. As for Atkins, I don’t think he ever bought in to playing at LSU. He was rumored to be a heavy lean to A&M leading up to his signing. These four all seem a bit undersized to play at this level.

Reports on instagram, Recuits.lsu saying as of now Johnson not entering the portal. Subject to change though. He confirmed the other 3 are entering.

You mean the freshman that will leave as soon as they realize they didn’t get much time as a freshman?

Not all transfers are bad. Sometimes players just don't pan out.

The portal goes both ways.

I’ve said for a while, this is the flaw in “growing organically” it’s next to impossible. If dudes aren’t playing right out of the gate, they’re being tampered with immediate playing time and an NIL deal, so why wait your turn?

also outside of OL, RS no one and use every able body because your odds of anyone being here for 4 years is probably less than 40% now anyway

There aren’t enough people around these kids telling they’re not anything more likely than a warm body wherever they end up, so make a decision on where you want to be rather than where you want to play.

The kid that was nominated for player of the year in Texas? The only defensive player on that list? Yeah totally was nothing but a “good” J-Hodge player who should’ve went to ULM. You’re an idiot

Not really with the studs coming in I don’t see where he fits in. And he’s small.

Atkins played well in the snaps he was giving and calling incoming freshman “studs” is crazy to me. I hope they all turn out to be great, but let’s see them make plays on the field before we start calling them studs.

They all have egos so if they aren’t playing it’s the coaches fault so when you can cut bait with no repercussions, in fact you’re likely rewarded with more money for it, of course you jump ship.

It would be funny if only 40-50 available players so we can revisit that talking point from 3 years ago still being used.

Kelly's Kids have somewhat pivoted from this tired arse excuse and now blame NIL for any shortcomings of the great coaching savant Brian Kelly.

I get CBK changing the portal approach this year.

Last year CBK was like, yeah we are going to build our program through high school recruiting. Probably thinking it's not only the traditional and honorable approach but the proper approach to developing a young man with the skills necessary to succeed in life after football.

But it looks like CBK had to do a 180 on this approach due to the way NIL has evolved. Sure continue to recruit from high school at at high level, but 20-30% of your roster will be mercenaries every year and they don't give a frick about getting an college education or life after football.

So here we are.
