Denbrock & Daniels or Ensminger & Brennan?
This is not primarily a criticism of Daniels but CBK. After going back and watching Brennan vs Mizzou in '20 I am at a loss as to why he chose to go in the direction we're going on offense. It makes even less sense when one realizes that the two QBs in the pipeline are more akin to Brennan than Daniels.
1) In the Les era post-'08, there was regular talk about how he couldn't develop a QB. The truth is, his style didn't require a QB to develop. CBK is at the opposite end of the spectrum. It doesn't matter who else develops. We could have the whole '19 skill pos players sans Burrow and the offense would be the same.
2) My best guess is that CBK does has not fully come to terms with where he's at. At ND, maybe there was a shortage of top-shelf skill players. So he built everything to a fault around the QB. He doesn't have to do that anymore. Find a QB who can read the D, get rid of the ball quickly, and enjoy the show.
Brennan's Last LSU Action
Lagniappe - Arik Gilbert was very good and Kayshon looked like Kayshon.

Lots of ppl were surprised by the Brennan saga, but the rest of this analysis makes no sense.

Why would you make me watch that?

Lets be real. Coach Kelly was left with a dumpster fire of a roster in terms of actual scholarship players to play football in the SEC. And we look better right now than we have the past 2 seasons despite that. Ill take the present coaching staff by a mile.

If they had played both Brennan and JD in the first 2-3 games, with each having packages, the OL would have settled in to where they are now and your QB that could have utilized the talented WR's would have emerged. Brennan had his flaws but from watching that clip you can see he was dealing with an abysmal OL and was still hitting WR's in all parts of the field and offsetting blocking flaws by getting the ball out quick. Had he played against Auburn, they would have ran AU off the field.

This is silly. I'm not a Mett fan, but he was a much better QB than anyone we had after 2007 except Etling. We were about 35th in offense that year and averaged about 85th the others. We were clearly better with a developed QB, no matter who developed him.

Brennan actually looked like a QB. He was dealing and dropping dimes. He threw guys open, back shoulder throws, threw over coverages, & got the ball out quick. I wonder what happened. Seems like the type of guy CBK would love running the show. I can’t remember many dual-threat guys at ND, Malik Zaire (transferred to FLA), Everett Ghloston (transferred to FLA St.), and maybe Brandon Winbush. Outside of Ghloston, those were disasters.
IDK, maybe Brennan had a different perspective this year but coming back to play definitely indicated that he was “all in”. Forgot how many “pro throws” he made during that game. He had a howitzer for an arm.

If Myles Brennan was a better option than JD, he would be starting right now. From lots of accounts MB was running third in the competition.
Honestly if MB was good enough to start here right now and cared about football that much and Kelly went another direction, don’t you think he would be playing somewhere right now? Not only did he not win the competition, but he also quit football. The most likely scenario is after 2 years of not playing, and some injuries, he just didn’t have it anymore.

I've heard the same from numerous folks who were at practice. He was outplayed by both competitors in practice and at times seemed uninterested.

So now the argument is that the QB should be someone who isn't even on the team?

I’ve seen many dumb takes on this site, but this might take the cake.
The guy quit football. Move tf on.

Brennan missed almost two full seasons because of injuries. I don’t think it’s that hard to believe that the Brennan of 2022 was a totally different player than the one in 2020. That’s why both Daniels and Nuss beat him out. Had he been the backup there is no way Brennan leaves.

I believe he was selected out. Period.

His last completion in practice I believe was for a td. What would have been.
I am moved on but rantards hate acknowledging things.

Yeah, well, he's new to the whole coaching thing in general, so you're likely correct.
I mean, maybe once he gets some years under his belt and gets some good experience, then he'll fully understand "where he's at" and what the expectations are.
Until then, I guess we're just going to be stuck with the winningest coach of all-time at one of the most storied NCAA programs...who we just happened to steal...even though Notre Dame, apparently, didn't even need/want him any longer.
I mean, Miles and Orgeron came in with such lofty resumes, that it does still shock me that we made this hire to begin with.

Kayshon looked like Kayshon.
5 catches for 49 yards & 0 TDs in the Mizzou game. Unfortunately, I was there.
I think Daniels is continuing to acclimate to the SEC, and he is a stronger leader than Brennan. As long as defense continues to force turnovers, I think we’re ok.

Time to move forward amd roll with who we have. This will be a frustrating offensive year, there's no silver bullet. We'll be winning ugly.
