“LSU is a rogue school. They might as well be an independent nation with its own army.”
Maybe they could call the independent nation.....Tiger Nation. Just an idea.

this is why scott would have never hired Kiffin, can't control him.
No doubt. But a lot of ADs wouldn’t have either before Ole Miss’s 2025 season. For a decade most thought the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. And they were probably right. He’s a much different coach and person than he was. And the top schools couldn’t afford to take that risk on him until he proved it at a place like Ole Miss who is at a level where they have to take risks.

Kelly needed scott to fundraise because he was a lazy a-hole that no one liked.
Nobody liked Kiffin outside of Oxford until he got to LSU. Now no one outside of Baton Rouge likes him. And Lane is the opposite of lazy, but I don’t think he’s playing a whole lot of effort into recruiting himself. He doesn’t have to. He hired the right people to leverage his name and the excitement he’s brought to LSU and Baton Rouge.
Which is a testament to him, not a knock. But let’s not pretend he’s Ed Orgeron sleeping in his car waiting to catch DEs in buttfrick nowheresville walking out of their house in the morning.

no doubt if scott were in charge of that search, we'd have Drink and be trying to convince ourselves he's going to be world's better here.
Agreed. I don’t have the same strange vitriol for Scott as a lot of people. He clearly loves LSU. He just wasn’t willing—or didn’t know how—to play the game in its current environment. Which meant he had to go. But I am curious who we would have ended up with if he were still here. It very well may have been Drink. Who I think could have won here, but nowhere near at the level Lane is capable of.
The Lane/LSU combo in ‘26 has the highest ceiling of any other possible combination of coach and school in the country. Gonna be really fun to see if he can reach it. No reason yet to think he won’t. I do think, with the addition of UT and OU, the expanded playoffs, and the dumb arse 9th game addition, and the buy in of so many more schools across the country where teams like Indiana can go 16-0, that ceiling isn’t as high some LSU fans have convinced themselves of. I don’t think it’s possible to have a Saban/Bama type run anymore.
