Finally an explanation bout why Ole Miss went for two so early

According to a blog that I find reliable, Rebels at first was lining up for 2 ONLY to SEE possible D formation in case they had to try one later in game.
After the 2nd offside call, they then decided to not kick extra point.
If accurate, definitely shows how little mental mistakes come back to haunt
Them getting 2 there definitely changed our last drive strategy
Makes sense to me now. I don’t care what anyone says, but had they gone for 2 initially it would have been awful strategic call

I figured they thought Lane would go for 2 if we scored the next drive, so they were just beating him to the punch.

I think they outcoached us in the game. That was a smart move.

fortunately for them... LSU is undisciplined AF..
Used to coaches made you run for that kind of shite... I hope that kid is STILL running... He can rest next weekend instead of being in the game...

Those two offsides are inexcusable. One is bad, but I can understand. The second was just terrible.

Team shite their pants when the lights were bright. Glad this happened early in the season so the next time we're in a dog fight late, we'd have been there already.

In a game of this magnitude, you dont f around with gimmicks. Home team, tough game, etc..and you score and kick immediately to go up 7. Nothing else matters
That was an absolutely moronic call by them, even though it worked in their favor...it was stupid. Too many things to go wrong possibly.

You can't control what your players do, but Ole Miss was smart to try it to get us to either use a timeout or do what we did twice so that they actually could go for 2 and get it pretty easily. Their coaches just seemed to have more attention to detail with some things.

Also, Lane very well might have gone for 2 himself if we were down by 1.

Yes, but if we scored the touchdown instead of the FG, it would have been 32-31, so our last drive would of been a FG to win it 34-32 , that crappy 3rd down play came down to haunt us, just my 2cent.

I saw one report that said that they lined up to go for 2 as they knew we only had one timeout left at the time. They didn't think we would use last timeout there and we would have more of a field goal block lineup in the game. Also, they really felt if they went for one and went went down and scored that we would go for 2 to win. so they lined up for it and then with us jumping it just solidified them going for it

It was a brilliant call. At worst they are still up 6 with 6 minutes left, so even if LSU put together a go ahead TD drive, ole miss would still have time to get a game winning fg with a great qb and great kicker. If they’d been up 7, kiffin would certainly have gone for 2 on the road anyway.
And at best they go up 8 and pretty much end the game right there.
Certainly was worth trying to get an off sides penalty in that environment and that situation. They might would have kicked it if we didn’t jump offsides. So nothing hurt trying it and as mentioned earlier seeing what kind of defense we would put out there for 2pt.

It is clear that lot of our offensive deficiencies were not scheme or attack related but personel related. Weis and Kiffin had a pretty good offensive game plan I thought. Leavitt needs to be better, I am not sure what we can do about the o-line on pass blocking, I just know it cant be nothing

Explain to me like I'm a liberal woman how needing a TD + 1 is strategically different than needing a TD +2 on that last drive?

with the way trinidad was moving the ball against us, and with their kicker who is legit from 55, i'd have made the move too bc if they miss the 2 point or if LSU gets the 2, they only have to get the ball to the 40 for their kicker to have a good chance to end it.

I thought it was a well coached game on both sides. Ole miss was certainly prepared and played well while LSU missed a lot of opportunities because we didn’t execute. We had recievers open multiple times and couldnt connect. Had chambliss bottled up multiple times and he made some incredible throws. That’s not on the coaches.
