Strategy this, strategy that, nah. I think he wanted to just be aggressive, to go down swinging. I think his fan base would have forgiven him because the spirit behind the call was to go for the jugular.

They were baiting Lane to use his last time out. Worst case, 5 yard delay and kick it. They were never going to snap it but then at the half yard line it was too tempting.
