I had the same thought. It's highly counterproductive for King to come forward with this asinine declaration now. It makes it appear as if Miles was retained solely because the University couldn't scrape the coins out of its rattling piggy bank to replace him. At least lie and boldly proclaim that, after careful consideration, you believe Miles is a championship caliber coach.
King is acting like an enemy of lsu football.

Dealing with the same BS at SELU in Hammond. On a way smaller scale, but basically the president told the fb coach he ain't getting shite and has never backed the football program because they are doing better than academics, so he won't give him anything and thus we are a laughing stock again. If he is pissed about academics, then go do something about it. Don't blame others because you suck and they are doing better. Total shite show both SELU and LSU. Both should be fired asap.

Agreed, they could have just let this issue die if they weren't prepared to answer these questions on Sunday or Monday. With the coaches out there recruiting, I can't help wonder how this might undermine their message to recruits.

You guys know where F. King's plan is?
1. Crawl up state Capitol steps
2. Beg
3. Play politics with LSU football
4. Repeat
5. Not profit
I just want to say one more thing:

So he's saying they would have fired Les if it were not for the 15-25 million buyout. And then says he has a great working relationship with Les.
That is absolutely the worse interview I have ever read. Until this point I've only thought Alleva needs to be fired. I now firmly believe Alexander needs to be fired as well. These two men have no understanding of how to handle the situation of Les Miles. They have zero skill set of how to handle this type of high profile coaching decision.

But there were others factors also at play in the deliberations, he says. One was the outpouring of popular support for Miles in the final days leading up to the Texas A&M game, a groundswell that occurred as reports suggested the coach’s fate was sealed. Miles’ historical record in 11 seasons of coaching at LSU—the best in Tiger history—also had to be taken into consideration.
Seriously? Vast majority of that "support" was meant to thank him for what he accomplished here and wish him the best as he moved on
you stupid fricking dumbshit

This statement washes Alleva's hands of any stupidity IMO, if any person in this city is celebrating the idiocy of frick King, it is Alleva

I laughed out loud at this, but damn if it isn't true. And like Miles or not, Alexander just declared him a buffoon not worthy of employment to the whole damn world. That's great for recruiting!

So my take on what Mr. King Alexander has said Is..
1.The people of La. are to stupid to understand the economics of this deal. Even if we explain it, they won't get it.
2. We know we have a problem, and may have already found a solution, or may persue a solution to said problem but we don't care enough to do so for fear of public perseption.
3. Les, we have no confidence in you as our coach any longer, but you lucky sob, you get a mulligan.

Alexander Speaks on Miles Decision: talked about 10s of millions being thrown around. None of the buyout was coming from the university funds or the athletic department. It was coming from boosters and TAF.
The black eye was on the administration and how if hung Les out to dry then kept him. Alexander & Alleva screwed this up royally and need to be held accountable.

Who has the ability to force Alexander out of his current job? Governor?
Posted on 12/3/15 at 1:35 pm to SammyTiger
So glad a guy like this is running LSU. No wonder it is in the brink of bankruptcy.

The only thing clear in the entire episode is that King and Alleva were not on the same page with the Board and the Board's boss. When a tweet from the Governor the day of the last game voices support for the coach keeping his job, you know two things - first, the coach of a public university is keeping his job, and second, the guys who thought they were in charge forgot to ask if they were in charge of football head coaching changes.

As a practical matter, it's the governor, Chicken.
Then we can talk about KING's buy out.

I don't have confidence in either the absentee lame duck governor nor the governor-elect to handle this correctly either.

You were pretty certain the other day in your comments that all this was just smoke and mirrors.

This is so condescending. What the frick can they say in a legislative hearing about what a private donor decides to do with their money?
Well, to be fair... other SEC posters on this site think our football program is poor just because of our school's budget issues.

Jindal has proven he isn't interested in solving these problems.
Let's at least give the as-of-yet-unsworn governor the benefit of an opportunity to do so.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. My only issue was with DALSU being full of BS when he started claiming done deal and coordinators were on board. I don't really feel like rehashing any of this though, so if you take this as some sort of victory, congratulations. Your trophy is in the mail.
