Real talk, even if we would have gotten Jimbo (which I don't think was happening regardless), would he really have been worth $6 million plus?

I think it's the governor, which might get interesting since the new one is Democrat.

Honestly, I would have drawn the line at 6. Beyond that, no.

And from whom does "private money" come? Taxpayers! There's only so much available. So you would raise taxes and forego "private money" to pay off Coach Miles? How naive and misguided you are!

yes...the program needs to "bring back the magic"...Miles doesn't appear to have the energy to do it. And the number isn't $6 million...it is $6 million minus what Miles was making...

Who is to say that the university couldn't make that up with increased merchandise sales and donations as a result of it showing the fan base that it is serious about winning championships?

I am appreciative of what Miles has done in his 11 years but I anticipated a change after the three game nose dive in November...hate to hear why it didn't happen.

Reasonable enough. I think it came down to our only two options were Jimbo at a very high number, or Les at his current number. I'm OK with how it ended up if those were our two options, but the whole process was just insanely FUBAR'ed. This is another instance, much like half time in the locker room on 1/9/12, where it would have been very interesting being a fly on the wall.

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but what a great feeling Les will have going forward knowing his job was decided because of PR reasons.

I'm hoping next year isn't a total waste.

Ignorance is always a blessing - to those who realize how widespread it is.

Probably the same thing for both. Just a bunch of people blankly staring at a wall waiting for something to happen.

But what happens when he drops 3 games next year? Or we don't win the West the next 3 years?

I assume it would take some time to implement his system and get his kind of recruits, etc. How much leash would he have really gotten with basically the second highest salary in all of the NCAA.

I still can't believe that he admitted to making a huge decision like that, worth millions long term, during halftime. What an idiot.

Jimbo is a top 5 coach and is still fairly young. He is easily worth it.

LSU Board of Supervisors, which hired King just a few years ago.

The Governor has the authority to remove and appoint Board members.

whatever...Jimbo is a proven coach with a great resume...and he is a great fit in south Louisiana...Jimbo will still be expensive next year if we want him and Miles' buyout will still be high...are you suggesting we are stuck with Miles for at least two more years because of money?

So pretty much we're revisiting this next year. What are the odds King pulls this again?
