I'm back on the typical off-season (nearly) expectations of a national championship.
Yep, and every report out of fall camp will suggest elite talent and at least one poster will reply with “I’m ready to run through a brick wall!1!1!!” Little of it will be true, they’ll lose to Clemson, and those same posters will say they always new Kelly was a fraud.

I am infuriated just reading this prediction because I know it's so possible

You’re exactly right. We are expecting 46% of the roster next year to be new - 38 out of 83 total in 2024 - 23 HS recruits and 15 transfers.

The key for us will be how many new players make it to Spring practice and no catastrophic injuries to key players or coaches. People forget how much bad karma hit the team in 2023, especially defense. Jimmy Lindsey, Greg Brooks, Zy Alexander, etc. We were playing true freshman out of position at DB by the end of the year.

No changes in coordinators or coaches will definitely help and be the first time in many years we’ve had that YoY consistency.

It's December 23, 2024... let's wait til after the
Spring portal closes. Theres no way to make a prediction without knowing the personnel. The new skilled weapons won't matter if they can't figure out the offensive line situation.

This is the pattern. Hopefully next year is an outlier in the right direction.

If he couldn't win it with JD5, he likely never will.

Very tough schedule. Realistically 9-3 is my guess

I'm excited about what the defense can do. Need some guys to step up at safety, but I think the rest of the defense will be 10-2 caliber.

Skill positions should be better than last season.

Concerned about the offensive line.

Nuss is not a QB who thrives under pressure.

If I'm Woodward, I am paying Clemson whatever it takes to back out of the season opener. There is zero benefit to LSU playing that game.

The season hinges on a few variables.

How good is and how quickly can the OL develop and build cohesion?
Can Nuss develop chemistry with the new receiver room?
Can Nuss and Sloan show year 2 improvement?

I think the D is stacked and will be from above average to very, very good.

With Clemson, Florida, Ole Miss and SC in the first 6 games, Kelly better have the team ready early. This team can make a playoff run, but can't start slow or the season will be over early.

Right now, our current LSU roster is made up of close to 40% transfers. The only 3 teams in the playoffs who are close to this is SMU at 40%, Indiana at 40% and Arizona at 53%.

Then we have a huge drop off to 27% which is Oregon, Tennessee at 22%, followed by Boise at 21%.

The remaining 7 playoff teams are around 15% or less with Clemson being the odd man with only 1 transfers.

I only count 5 returning transfer players for next year. With the 11 new transfers currently committed, that’s 16 total or 19% of 85 scholarships.

Even if we get up to the 15 or so incoming transfers projected by Kelly, that’s still only 24% of 85 scholarships.

It’s certainly possible that I’m missing a couple of returning transfers but I’d have to be missing like 14 of them for our roster to be 40% transfers. How are you getting to that number?

tRant is already in peak offseason mode.

Get downvoted into oblivion if you say anything less than the playoffs, even though the team has been mediocre as all hell for the last 5 seasons.

Braelin Moore may be the biggest addition from the portal. If he can solidify the OL by making blitz and blocking calls and keep the pocket from getting pushed back it will make a huge difference for Nuss. If he can step up in the pocket his effectiveness will improve exponentially. Curne is considered a day 1 starter and then Chester and Mubenga can fight it out over the other OG spot.

Playing at Clemson game 1 sucks, but this is BK's 4th crack at winning game 1. Time to deliver.

We will likely go anywhere from 10-2 to 8-4. Schedule is tough.

All these player additions are great, but we will have no improvement if we don't change our offensive philosophy and develop a running game.

That’s also misleading.

Example: OSU & Oregon are paying ridiculous amounts on HS recruits. Look at signing day, Oregon flipped multiple recruits that never even took a visit. Thats pretty telling.

As we get further into NIL and transfers and juco exception, that transfer % will only go up.

Transfer team rankings
Oregon
2022 - 23rd 10 transfers
2023 - 9th 13 transfers
2024 - 2nd 14 transfers
2025 - 10th currently

Agree!
This coaching staff has no record on which to base that prediction.
With the left over Orgeron players, plus Daniels, we were competitive.
Since then its been a Cluster.
