JD returning has everything to do with Howard leaving. Howard’s family was only expecting to be in QB2 slot this year. Nuss starting 2 yrs beginning this year put Howard on track to develop for 3 and start 2.

He still has that option with Daniels staying.

If he can’t beat out Nuss, that’s on him not LSU.

I think most people believed Nuss would be the transfer.

Most thought Nuss would transfer because the star gazers thought Walker was going to roll in and pass Nuss in the pecking order very quickly. Hasn't happened and he's not close at this point.

I think this is far more about Nuss' performance than Daniels.
Anyone who doesn't see this doesn't want to see it.

Did anyone think Howard was gonna beat out Nuss for the starting gig next year had Daniels left?

I sure didn't based on what we've seen. Clearly the coaches didn't feel that way either. Nuss staying is why Howard bolted. Not Daniels staying.

And Nuss was never going anywhere. A very few said that here and elsewhere, but it gets drowned out. Nuss bleeds purple and gold, he's the one hosting recruits, the biggest rah rah dude on the team. He was never leaving. And that remains the case.

Also, where was Howard a 5*? Rivals? Whatever. I've yet to see a QB transfer from LSU and succeed, unless y'all wanna talk about Lindsey Scott who finally, in his 12th year or whatever, won some vague championship playing for Incarnate Word out of San Antonio.
Those that transfer IN however have succeeded.

LSU will be more than fine without Howard.

ou can't deny it does suck losing a home grown 5 star QB, but with that said the 5 star got beat out by 4 star Nuss. Howard doesn't have a path to play with Nuss in his way so Howard is leaving.

I'll say this again...when did Brian Kelly sign and develop an elite quarterback when at Notre Dame? Answer: never

If you expect that to all of a sudden change then you didn't watch the abysmal performance of Daniels in several games. With marginally better QB play LSU could have beaten FSU and AtM. Who knows with Tennessee, but LSU could have finished 12-2 with a New Years 6 bowl.

So the Howard family was expecting for Nuss to go pro early (after '24) like only one other non-baseball player QB has in the history of LSU football? Before Nuss even started a game?

I’d rather have Jordan Jefferson in the qb room than Walker Howard.

At least JJ was not afraid to compete.

I do think a lot of these impulsive transfers have to do with bad advice from families wanting to expedite a return on their cash cow.

You thought Ed O was a good coach and wanted Aranda fired

Nothing against JD. But, if a QB thinks they cannot beat him out then he isn't meant for the SEC. And I am glad JD is coming back. It is just my opinion.

I agree, why are people surprised? When Daniels said he was coming back, that left Howard out…
If I had to pick, I want Nuss and Daniels vs Howard
I like the progress Nuss has made and saw nothing from Howard to this point

There aren’t that many elite QBs out there…your standard is out of whack…good, effective college quarterback is what we need…good enough to win it all…doesn’t have to be a too 10 pick

I can't wait to see if this happens next time around.

what happens if 2023/2024, Nuss is starting, collins and Hurley are QB2 and QB3? One decides they don't want to wait 2-3 years to start and transfers to ..... Colorado?

We gonna see threads about Hurley has "no chest", "entitled", "didn't want to compete"? Will Collins be "not good enough for the SEC"?

Because, we're hearing now how these KIDS are "the future", "made in a lab".

Me too. Will be upset if Nuss was to transfer after spring. We would be in very bad shape then.

The melt is because the realization of those who bought first class tickets on the Nuss bus have no way out of their tom-frickery on this board the last few weeks. Their guy will get his shot and the job will be basically given to him. If he blows it, they will feel exposed.

No that was not what I said. If Daniels is gone then pencil Nuss in 23-24 with WH as QB2. 25-26 would be WH’s starting yrs.

You seem to be under the impression that only two people post here - you and a guy named Rant.
