hypocritical crybaby? No, I am a VFW pointing out the facts. They choose to shite on the flag and military as their form of protest. Their choice but that is the one they made and they can't pretend it means something else.

this dude here... :roll eyes:

The reality of this "protest" is that it is really just anti-Trump because almost none of these players were protesting until the President said how disrespectful the actions are. So dont tell me how committed these dumbasses are. It's a joke.

you realize that it started BEFORE trump, right? you realize that it probably would have died the frick out, had it not been for trump, right? had he not gone and thrown gas on the embers of this shite, we wouldn't be here right now.... but he did, and he was able to twist the meaning of their protest into something that it totally is not about, yet somehow, there a people out there still dumb enough to think that this is about trying to be disrespectful to the military or country or whatever...

You people are insufferable. I'm sick of this even being an issue - these guys can demonstrate however they want; I honestly don't care. But the fact that some of yall get so worked up over this is pathetic.

you sound pretty worked up over people expressing their opinion about this issue.
i will offer you my 2 cents here.
you have your head stuck up your arse and you choose to be ignorant about this NFL knee taking disrespectful disgrace show.

Eric is a smart man.. he's in the perfect city for his current mentality.. I see why and understand why people see these protests as anti military.. its a logical leap but I can almost guarantee that he doesn't see it that way.. Maybe things have changed but he was close to his uncle who is(was) a colonel in the reserves. Great guy that served multiple tours in Iraq..

After hours of careful consideration, and even a visit from Nate Boyer, a retired Green Beret and former N.F.L. player, we came to the conclusion that we should kneel, rather than sit, the next day during the anthem as a peaceful protest. We chose to kneel because it’s a respectful gesture. I remember thinking our posture was like a flag flown at half-mast to mark a tragedy. It baffles me that our protest is still being misconstrued as disrespectful to the country, flag and military personnel. We chose it because it’s exactly the opposite. It has always been my understanding that the brave men and women who fought and died for our country did so to ensure that we could live in a fair and free society, which includes the right to speak out in protest.

Don't know who said the above. Just wanted to provide another point of view.

Over half a million minutes in a year

Anthem as composed less than 2 minutes

NFL regular season 16 games

About 32 min of anthem time in an NFL regular season, so about 32 min of time for an NFL player to protest.

32 minutes out of 525,600 minutes spent protesting

.00006088% of time spent protesting

The same exact time that people are asked to pay respect to the ones who have served, the ones who are serving, the flag and the country.

If these arrogant, multi-millionaire, cry-babies feel so "socially mistreated" by police why don't they protest in front of a police station ON THEIR OWN TIME instead of at their work place. It's because they don't truly care enough to try to work on the problem on their own time! They don't really want to make progress. They know that by kneeling and raising their fists during the National Anthem this pisses a lot of people off, and they love doing that!

first off, thank you for your service...

no... you are dispelling your perceived reasoning, which is totally incorrect...

quote:

They choose to shite on the flag and military as their form of protest

so did you fight for EVERYONE'S freedom, and all that it entails, or no? regardless of what you think about it, it is their freedom to peacefully protest, whenever and however they see fit, just as it's your freedom to ignore the product they are involved with... seeing your fellow citizens, whom you fought for, exercising their freedoms, whether you agree with or not, isn't that the point of "protecting the freedoms of our country"?

quote:

they can't pretend it means something else

they aren't.... it's just that simple minded folk keep trying to make it mean something totally off base to what their ACTUAL reasoning is.... it's been well stated by every single player that they are trying to bring awareness to social issues and their perception of injustice, as it stands within their community.... they have all said that it has absolutely fricking NOTHING to do with the military.... yet, again, some people want to continue to MAKE IT about that, despite what the people ACTUALLY doing the protest say....

this right here sums up the incorrectness of those that oppose the players and their protest....

it's not them PERSONALLY that feel "mistreated", per se... it's other people within their community.... sure, some of them may have had run ins with police that they felt were of a "racial" tone, but their protest have everything to do with starting a conversation about the state of racial relations between minorities and police, and NOTHING to do with the military, and/or the players on a personal level...

and if you can't understand why they would choose to time their protest to be included in the televising of the #1 sport in America, as opposed to some other time, then i can't help you with the rest of your asinine drivel you posted....

There you go. You say that you are NOT being disrespectful. Yet, many, many people interpret it that way. It is time to apologize and find another way to protest.

AT BEST, he mis-read how people would percieve his actions. Move on and find away to protest that will put attention on the issue that he is protesting for, rather than on the military and our soldiers. If he can't do that, then he is not only continuing to disrespect the military, but he is not doing any justice for his primary issue.

But that's a lie. The numbers don't support their claim. Black people have more violence in their communities, which is why they have difficulties with police.

One of many NFL players (LSU or related or not) why I am not watching the NFL. If the NFL would enforce the rules already in their books, this would not be happening.
