But that's a lie. The numbers don't support their claim
i never said they did... i'm just telling you that's their reasoning.... whether the numbers justify their cause or not, they perceive it as a problem facing their community, and thus, something that needs to be brought to light....
but what this protest is NOT about is about the military or the "flag" or whatever else that some people want to misconstrue it as...
quote:
Black people have more violence in their communities
i don't think that any one of the protestors would disagree with this statement....

which is why they have difficulties with police.
there are some GREAT policemen and women out there... and there are some absolute shitheads... i don't think you can paint all "police" with the same brush, but i do see the "shoot first, ask questions later" approach as something that needs to be corrected among ALL races when dealing with the police... there absolutely has been cops that have gotten off after killing innocent, unarmed suspects, regardless of the race of the suspect... and THAT is wrong... but it has and does happen, unfortunately...

The NFL is boring anyway. CFB>>>NFL any day of the week. I only watch the NFL during the playoffs bc the regular season is garbage

They can protest about their issues whenever the frick they want. The fact that it is during the national anthem disrespects our soldiers.

chRxis spare us your condescension and bleeding heart liberal crap.
Can they protest sure! But should they at their place of employment which may not represent the views of their employer. And other people working there.
With freedom comes responsibility. And that is why it is a good idea to express your opinions on your own time. I can guarantee you that people who go political at their jobs risk getting fired that aren't sports stars. Their is a double standard in this country now.
And if the scumbag that started all this is willing now to stand so he can get a job tells you how committed he was in the beginning. It was his radical girlfriend who put him up to it.
And I can promise you at least half of these so called guys that care to kneel do it cause they don't give a shite just want to stick it to the establishment. What outside of this are they doing that might keep them from the strip bars.
And don't think the silent majority wont stand up and start voicing their silent majority where it hurts. The NFL can die as it is right now with a slow death. Ask Papa Johns Pizza
I grew up loving the NFL and College football but I don't give a crap about the NFL anymore. And I don't watch the NBA because it is full of corruption and the games are fixed.
Money has ruined sports. And when these guys have no livelihood I wont feel sorry for them one bit.

so, kneeling before the anthem... that would OK, in your opinion?

If it has nothing to do with the flag or the military then these fricking morons need to pick a better way to protest because their chosen protest method is asinine.
You don't get to insult people and have the right to tell them they don't have the right to be offended because they don't understand your cause.

Wrong. That's the problem with people like you. You want to take actions but not be held accountable to those actions. Instead, you want to be excused from those actions by saying it means something different to you. Not how it works. Talk is cheap. You should try politics

you do know this is NOT true, right? please tell me you at least know that much...
but just judging by the overall tone of your post, i can pretty much safely assume that you don't know that..

condescension
talking in plain English without an obvious bias is "condescending" now? i'm sorry i don't agree with EITHER side in this debate, as them kneeling does absolutely NOTHING to me on a personal level and i'm not childish enough to display faux outrage on a message board as if it does, but yeah... i'm also smart enough to disseminate information that is FACTUAL rather than shite that some heavily biased news source puts out, but you do you, bro...

bleeding heart liberal
i'm actually not a liberal... i'm a registered independent, but i do happen to be someone that can think for themselves, rather than just take a position that i've been told is the "right" side...

I disagree with you. In every case where a police officer shot a African American due process was given to the defendant. a jury was selected a defense attorney and prosecutors were also selected. a judge allowed both sides to state their case and then the jury in almost every case found the police officers innocent. So my question to you is the justice system racist?

1st off, you don't know a god damn thing about me, chief... don't get it twisted...

so let me get this straight... no matter how many times every single player that has protested by kneeling comes out and says that it has nothing at all to do with the military, it's still about the military? and if so, why? why is that YOUR perception of it?
could it be because you don't agree with it? is it because that's what you have latched onto as the reasoning, despite all the evidence, in the form of the words of the players doing the protesting, to the contrary?
quote:
You want to take actions but not be held accountable to those actions
the frick are you talking about??? i never said i supported their protests... 1.) i don't care what these players choose to do before, during, or after the anthem.... it makes no difference IRL, in my personal life, one way or the fricking other, just like it realistically doesn't make a difference in yours either... 2.) i said i understand their reasoning, but don't think it's making much of a difference one way or the other, which just furthermore shows that i don't really support their protests

Woulda been Eric the ditch digger Reid in most other countries but here, is a multimillionaire for playing football.
Bitches about conditions here and disrespects veterans and national symbols.
frick Eric Reid.

i agree that it's asinine and ineffective to the original point of the protest, but let me ask you... if you wanted to bring awareness to a particular "thing", wouldn't you use the biggest, most televised, most covered platform you are afforded? of course you would, and that's what they are doing....

Only in America a football player takes a knee for unarmed blacks being killed in a peaceful manner and we turn in him... But yet we cheer murders, women beaters, weed heads, drunk drivers etc etc. He has stated it has absolutely nothing to do with the military!!
Posted on 11/12/17 at 11:24 pm to chRxis
It depends do the players want to win people to their side or do they want to try to win the argument. Martin Luther king was very effective at winning people over to his side. Many people feel that the players are protesting at the expense of those who served. This is a very unpopular issue with the majority of Americans and I am not sure racial justice has been served as a result of these protests.

I think I saw where only 3 guys kneeled today. That is out of like 1,600 players. So it's pretty much over. Reid is going to be the last one and it is just a cry for attention or maybe he just can't let it go. I don't think this ends well for him..

I mean, his own mother is an Army veteran. It's still amusing that people still won't accept the peaceful protest having anything to do with disrespecting our past and present servicemen. It is what it is.

So have some real balls and take a knee on the first snap of every game. This is their job. The rest of us would be fired if we did this shite. Make a real sacrifice for your cause instead of one that obviously offends people to claim you are not offending.

The purpose of the anthem is to honor our country, it's values and the people that defend it (past and present). You can't just decide that isn't what it's for and expect people to buy that. Everybody has been taught that since they were children. If you dishonor or protest it, people will be offended and upset. It's just social convention. I don't care how many of his family are service members. All that means is he should know better..
