Duke Riley LB carved out a nice career for himself also… I believe he didn’t start until he was a senior

Danielle Hunter is one of the most underrated defensive ends in the league.
Maybe, but he is the highest paid DE in the league this year getting $29.5M.
He got $20M/yr the past 2 years

Al Woods, 37 (LSU 06-09)
Hell of a long career.
In typical Saints fashion: 2010 Draft. Move up 7 spots, by trading their 4th and 7th rd. draft picks. Select Al Woods. Release him in September as he goes on to have a solid NFL career earning nearly $28,000,000. Al could buy the towns of Elton, Basile, and Iota with that money

The defensive side of new young dominant NFL LSU alums is slightly lacking though I will give you that.
O shite the bed on recruiting good defensive players while he was chasing a nut. Hopefully CBK restores the tradition of badass defenses.

Al made almost 27 million in his career. He also will have a nice pension plan coming to him at 55. Congrats on a great career.

I agree 100%, as he also had a problem finding a good, reliable DL coach
2017- Pete Jenkins: older than Methuselah when hired.
2018 - Dennis "Meatball" Johnson: very young at the time with relatively 0 coaching experience.
2019 - Bill Johnson: EO's best friend from the Saints. I'll refrain from commenting on his recruiting and coaching abilities.

Let me say this… if I saw CEO in person in Destin or some place, I would gladly shake his hand and thank him for what he did to restore the program leading up to 2019.
Then I would get back to the condo and bitch to my family about how he turned LSU into a pussy arse good ole boy club, because that is what it became with that list you posted.

Another crazy Al Woods fact is that he had his best statistical season in 2022

Very impressive especially at his position

I don't think he's underrated at all.
Edit: He's made the pro-bowl 4 times.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you can teach and inspire.

Woods only started 16 games in 4 years! 13 of those in his Senior season. He didn't start a game at LSU until 1/2 through his junior season. I know he was a DT, but he only had 3 sacks and 8 TFLs in 4 full seasons. He did almost nothing of note at LSU...then has a 13 year NFL career!
Saved his body for the NFL

I just got finished watching the Miami Dolphins in season hard knocks. It was nice seeing Duke Riley put in work with the Dolphins. He was one of my favorite Tigers during his time at LSU.

He definitely had a journeyman type of career.
Not saying that you are using the term pejoratively, but nothing wrong with being a journeyman. He has made a great living in the league. Should be set for life financially.

Having Patrick Peterson as a future DB coach is the dream.
Why? The odds are that the fourth string free agent, who backed him up at LSU, would be a much better coach.

If it’s the fact that most retired multi millionaires dont go coach after hanging the cleats up, then your point sucks. Being a DB coach in college is about recruiting and individual technique which he would excel at. Im not saying PP7 should come in and be the DC or even be our DB coach out the gate. Maybe down the line if he wanted to and had the drive.

No you have it wrong. Chad woods changed his name to rehim Jones. But he will always be Chad woods to me. Like Chris Jackson.

Why would he excel at it? To excel at teaching you have to have great communication skills. Just because a guy can play well doesn’t make him a teacher. And to be a great recruiter you have to be a great salesman and have a fire in your belly.
List the great coaches. How many of them were shite players at shite colleges, and how many were superstars in the NFL. I’ll start- Nick Saban, Vince Lombardi (couldn’t make it in semi-pro), Sean Payton, Bill Belichick (Wesleyan lol). There were plenty of good players who made good coaches, too, but most don’t.
