That particular policy has been altered, so it’s more than likely school.

I know members of John's family. They are educated.

So I guess I’m now supposed to feel guilty for my whiteness? Where will this end.

They didn't say why he is not available. Is it academics?
I thought he just got reinstated and school just started a week ago. He has not had time to get in academic trouble.

bullshite
These guys are not forced to major in a very technical or difficult area of study. Nor are the forced to be 4.0 students. They essentially have to achieve the bare minimum in order to remain eligible to play football.
There are MANY guys on the roster who may not have come from a great economic background/situation. Yet, the overwhelming majority somehow have been capable of attaining the bare minimum necessary academic requirements while we seem (presumably…at least for the sake of discussion) to be on year 4 of Emery not being able to reach that low standard. This, despite LSU providing every resource available to athletes that most of the regular student body doesn’t have access to.
If he can’t meet the minimum requirements it is because HE doesn’t give a shite about doing so. Not some “system” that has failed him.

BS. These athletes like Emery have as many academic resources at their disposal as they do athletic training resources.
If the reason is academically related, it's either he didn't utilize resources, or simply has a low IQ and doesn't belong in college. But somehow he graduated H.S. and made an adequate entrance exam score to gain admission.

Seems to me he’s taken up, for 5 years, a scholarship that could have been otherwise far more deserving.

You realize OP is not John Emery right?

Football is so important to numbskulls like you that you would publicly condemn a college aged player just because you're disappointed he can't play in the next game.

How many players on LSU’a team would actually be in college if they were not on the football team?

Given the combination of assistance, easy course work, monitoring, and tutoring that's available to football players, the average 4th grader could remain eligible for at least two years. I'm not kidding - it's at that level.

There isn't a semi pro league for highschoolers. If that was an option, then things could be different. The NFL could fund one, but it would cost them, and I doubt you would have owners in line to spend money that way.
That’s the root cause of the problem. Football needs semipro/farm teams like baseball. That way you get players that want to go to college. Baseball does it? why not football?

I went to college and stayed in dorm that housed many football players and there’s a lot of truth to that statement.

I can honestly say that I'm a big Emery fan and I'm disappointed he won't be able to play Sunday, but I'm not surprised at all.

I get what you are saying but schools like LSU have all sorts of things in place to help athletes like Emery succeed, or at least meet the minimum requirements to stay eligible.
I’m not one to defend the NCAA but at some point the kid has to step up and take advantage of the resources offered.
And I also don’t think it’s fair to just assume he’s too stupid and needs more help. Maybe he’s just lazy off the field.

It’s a good thing LSU has all those backs on the roster. Out of those guys, you’d think someone steps up.

I don’t find that out of line on its own…especially if the complaint is work ethic.
