How about 2 years as head coach, with Sheppard as associate head coach in waiting. It's basically a mentorship, and it gives LSU fans confidence that Sheppard is ready to be a long term head coach. I like that idea. But there's no way in heck Saban is coming back to coach at 74 lol.
It's funny to me that Sumrall is summarized by what happened with Napier. I guess if Napier had been more successful, then everyone would want Sumrall. Both positions would be unrelated to actually how good of a choice he is.

He's the best choice on that list, and a good personality fit.
Sounds like Kelly recognized Wilson was dealing behind him and wanted him gone. No idea, but that would make sense.
Its not that we're worse - it's just that it was a lot more fun when us and Alabama were the only two schools that installed NIL 10 years before it passed. This parity thing where everyone gets to do it sucks.
I'm convinced we're 7-0 with Pavia as our QB. That's all I need to know about our O line and Nuss.
I'm not sure - but I do know this. I am the same exact age as BK. I've been a surgeon for 35 years. I can still do surgery as good as I ever could, and I know a lot of things I didnt know 25 years ago.
But do I want to take on the big, complex cases anymore? Stay up all night doing high adrenaline trauma cases? Hell no! I am content now to work 8-5 and not take call. My ego no longer requires me to do the difficult stuff. I see this exact same demeanor in BK, and I know what he's feeling. I think about retirement every day, and I know he does too. This is the entire issue, and I have zero doubt about it.
They are more concerned with making MIP arrests at the frat parties than this. Balances their numbers racially, and generates revenue.
There's only one answer for that defense - Nuss has to take the free 10-15 yards it gives him. Eventually they have to change. His absolute complete avoidance of any risk of physical contact has cost us multiple games.
If Nuss continues to refuse to run, they really only need one to rush. Any hint of pressure and he's going to panic or fold. Continuing forward in the SEC without a quarterback who can keep defenses honest with the occasional run, is a recipe for failure.

Apparently you like stats. Here’s a few for you:
84 offensive plays
480 total yards
28 first downs
4 of 5 in the red zone

Dude are you seriously going to try to out stat this guy lol.

Reminds me of an old saying, "never try talking teeth with a dentist..."
None of it matters. If he won't run, even a little bit, he won't succeed. Its just that simple. We were 5 Nuss keep it and run scrambles from the play offs last year. It's even worse this year. Trying to run this offense with a quarterback that is terrified of contact just won't ever work.
Nice breakdown on it - the simple truth is that any run capable QB would have torched that defense last night. Every other team that has played them did it with even a minimally running QB. Two designed QB draw plays early on for 8-10 yards would have changed the whole defensive game plan.
Good point, and I agree. He'll have moments this year where he looks amazing, but the basic tenet is that he plays scared. He folds up in the pocket the minute he feels pressure, and refuses to take the easy yards that would make him really difficult to defend. When is the last time you saw him step in to a throw, and take a hit as he releases it? It doesn't happen because he's already bailing out of the play. It's really frustrating to watch, because he has a lot of talent, and he's not actually slow or immobile.
He is kind of a glider - he looks slow, but is eating up a lot of ground. It almost looks like he's jogging at times, but people are struggling to catch him. I think it causes defenders to take weird angles on him and miss tackles. Whatever it is, he's getting yards after contact and clearly our best back.
Pretty classy. Thanks for sharing- enjoyed.
Gotta love Les for this reason alone - dude was a freak about special teams play. Kickoff coverage was basically the best 11 guys on the team, no matter what.

Some things have changed a bit relative to kicking that have diminished the ability to return both kickoffs and punts. That may have a bit to do with it.
Thread summary:

Lacy drove in the wrong lane and caused an accident when others tried to avoid him. Someone died because of it.

He's charged with negligent homicide instead of vehicular homicide, because he fled the scene and we don't know if he was intoxicated or high.

One idiot thinks that as long as you don't actually hit anyone, driving in the wrong lane opposite traffic isn't an issue, even if others hit things when they try to avoid getting hit head on by you.

We still don't know where Lacy is.

He may not even start on the all prison squad. Lots of guys there with better hands.

Did I leave anything out?
Yes I get it. They declare a regular season champion. The tournament winner is a seperate whole thing. The regular season champion is who the champion is.

You can’t watch a few games of this dude and a few games of Brennan and even think it’s a competition if you are honest with yourself.

This is our starter and I expect him to be one of our best QB’s ever to be honest if he stays 2 years. Hope he can hold up to the punishment of the SEC though.

Pretty profound call. Need to find this guy and get him to help me with some stock picks. Probably sitting in the Caribbean living off Bitcoin profits right now.
The key is to eliminate the conference championship games. Just do it like baseball - declare a champion based on record and tiebreakers.

Then use the computer system that takes records and SOS to pick 16 teams, like the old BCS system. Seed them, play home game to highest seed, neutral site semi and final, like last year. If it happens that one conference has 5 teams in the 16, then so be it. Vegas has systems that can crunch all of this data to perfection.
