Stop. It's not $125,000 a year. It's $6,000 a week. If you last the whole season its roughly $125,000. If you get hurt week one, you are proper fricked.

WHOMEVER IS ADVISING THESE GUYS NEEDS A BULLET— Seriously!!
This guy will NOT get drafted and has no college degree. He has everything paid for right now as well as education.
This is truly unfathomoble and you do not see this sort of horrific decision making occurring at most top tier schools.

Pension and really really good insurance

You don’t just get the pension.

You think he’ll last three years service time on a practice squad making 6k a week?
Because he’s not getting a guaranteed contract, and he probably won’t get drafted at all.

Eta: pension is for active players. Certainly not a given, and 100% not a reason for a player like Alexander to leave early

I'ma go contrarian and say going this year might be best for him.

If his knees are bad, another year of wear/tear may not help him. When healthy, he's a monster.

Wish he'd play the bowl game, however. That is a trend that needs to be slapped down.

Maybe NFL can make a rule that they don't draft kids that don't play in their bowls.

bouncing around 6 different teams as a tackling dummy on the practice squad is so much better for his knees?

Oh so he only needs to make it 6 weeks to pay for the rest of his degree, Then the rest is bonus. Y’all are fools if y’all don’t see how this is the best for him(with his issues). I hate seeing it as well but y’all are crazy if y’all don’t see how it makes sense for him.

It would be disappointing to know that he is basing his decision on a tigerdroppings post.

Was coming to post similar thoughts.

Ciron Black cost himself a shot in the league by returning for his senior year when he had similar issues.

Good luck, Big Ed. Thanks for committing and putting your body on the line for LSU.

You can always come back and get your degree at any point. Go after your dream of playing in the NFL while you can

Oh, so he’ll save 100% of his salary and apply it to college tuition. Totally not use a cent on housing, food, entertainment, etc.

Dude practice squad players do not hang around long enough to make a career. A longshot potential $125,000 dollars is not enough money to enter a draft you won’t be selected in.

You know that practice squad reps will also hurt his knees, correct?

Uh, he has to pay rent, car, insurance, food for himself...

You are making it very obvious why someone like yourself would conclude this is a wise decision

You know I was just proving a point. And yes I am aware, that’s why it’s best for him to use up his knees making money:

That’s a strange comment because it actually proves why I think it’s best for him to go. His knees will be used up regardless so might as well at least try to make some money. I don’t think he would be a high pick next year either.

I was making a point. So you think he will be drafted next year if he were to return? What round?

Assuming his knees hold up

guys who might make more money.

I dont Even know if Alexander get signed.

He might make a practice squad

You know a huge market for NT with limited tape and bad knees?

You think “I got 2 years left in me” is a seedling pitch to get signed?

Like a 5th rounder whonplayes 2 years will make more than a practice squad guy who plays 3

I dont Even think he’ll get signed to a roster.

Thank God we just got Siaki Ika.

I doubt Ed Alexander will even get drafted, so no offense to Ed Alexander, but don't think this was a good decision.

THIS RIGHT HERE IS PART OF WHY ALABAMA IS BETTER THAN LSU

Saban keeps the majority of his players THROUGH THEIR SENIOR YEAR

Why the melt? Seems like he was hurt more than he played. Shevlin may see this as a opening for motivation. All yours if you show some discipline big guy.

$125k is not a lot of money. Your viewpoint is shortsighted as hell. So now if the NFL doesn’t go well for him, he’s got no degree, and no money. Because $125k isn’t getting anyone very far in a big city and an NFL lifestyle.

Hope that one year of salary is worth forgoing a free chance to ensure you have a career after football.
