If we do, it will be to throw the defense off and set up the shotgun spread

Lane Kiffin did it to us all the time

After we jump out to a double digit lead in the second half, I would love to see Coach O trot Carter out there to lead block for a steady stream of fresh backs until those fricksticks from Texas are laying down just so they can get a play or two of rest.

Yes you can but there is still a time & place for the I formation. That's short yardage & goal line. Even the team the current offensive system is based off (Saints) uses I formation & a fullback occasionally. If you watch enough college games week in & week out, you see so many spread teams fail in short yardage situations trying to run the ball because it simply takes a fraction of second longer to run from shotgun/pistol especially when the defense is packed in tight to stop the run.

Exactly my thoughts. I’m not saying we should go I formation on 1st down or anything but when we need 2-3 yards, I think it still holds value.

You don’t need to run I formation to run the ball so no.

I would run some I on short yardage, but LSU has dominate the LOS with more power than these boot licks have ever felt no matter what!

There is something to be said for the late clock eating drive to put the game away. If we have a big lead late and get the ball with 6 min left, I wouldn't mind seeing us in the I-formation grinding out 1st down after 1st down.

I think you will see either tony carter in as an extra back/te and we will run some lead blocking plays out of the spread. I also look for some counters out of this formation and some play action to the HB/Te out of this formation. I believe this is how they will get our power running game going.
