Do you guys feel comfortable with a FCS qb getting his first start at a hostile Ole Miss?

If there is one offensive staff that could put together an elite gameplan for a 1st time FBS starter it would Lane and Charlie. Just need to run the ball at a high clip. Landon is an elite runner so maybe some of that inverted veer and QB counter can be utilized at an elite clip.

CLK is playing the mind game to distract OM. Leavitt and Clark will play. This comes down to our defense and run game. Need to run the ball to keep Chambliss on the sideline. Once our defense gets warmed up OM will buckle. LSU CANNOT start slow though like the 2 last games. Must be ready when the first whistle blows.

I really want to believe it is gamesmanship. But if Sam wasn't throwing in practice yesterday that's a big red flag. In his post-game interview after LA Tech Sam addressed each of the 3 INT's.
One sailed to Trey'Dez because he felt the pressure coming from the right side, the pick-6 was a timing issue on a quick slant he admitted needs work/more reps, the other he conceded was forced and not accurate enough.
Can't remember how many of his deep throws have been on the wrong side of the receiver.
In other words, he needs all the reps he can get right now.
My thought is to start Clark, even if Sam can go, and bring him in off the bench if things start going to hell or to begin the 2nd half even.
Even the hint that he's hobbled, I'm bringing everyone with pressure to start the game and leverage the emotion if I'm Golding.

Of course I would rather have Leavitt since he's a proven P4 QB...but Lane had this happen almost exactly a year ago at Ole Miss. If anyone is capable of being up a FCS QB to be a competitive P4 QB it's Lane. And also Landon has looked quite good in small doses of back up play so I'm not of the volition that this game is lost already

It’s 55k hostile crowd. It’s probably double what he would be use to maybe triple. Landon looks like a dog though and Kiffin and Weiss have won with a backup before

ehh
wouldn't be surprised if both teams come out a little slow on offense to start. As long as we aren't turning it over or special teams blunders, our defense will hold up just fine.

Its not like anyone can do anything about it. Best case scenario is Clark balls out and the offense rolls. Worst case scenario the offense sucks and you have to hope your defense can pitch a shutout. Which in my lifetime has been the norm most of the time

I don't think a big stage scares Landen Clark. I don't care that he comes in when the game is not in doubt he moves the team and scores. To me he looks comfortable and decisive and like a starter. Besides we have another 5 star QB behind Clark.

Vaught doesn’t get that loud and defense is far superior than last year. We will be fine. Plus Lane knows every skeleton/weakness there.
