I try to put myself in the position of a huge basketball fan. Because I feel like they are the ones who dislike firing Wade mostly. And I get it. If we were a lower football program and we had a guy come in like wade and brought excitement, Id probably be pissed about the firing. Maybe even show irrational opinions.

But that’s hard for me to do because I’m just not a huge basketball fan. But I definitely understand people being bitter right now.

I mean he was almost undoubtedly our best coach since Dale. He didn’t stab us in the back, he fricked up in how he approached paying players (something every coach in America needs to do if they want to be worth a damn).

Why would we not support him? LSU was competitive every year with Wade and the program was trending up. Now it’s back to the dumpster for basketball, sanctions or not. Everyone will miss this man in 1-2 years.

What would you call 1 NCAA tournament appearance in 8 seasons?

I like Wade. I'm sorry he's gone but I can't blame Woodward considering the evidence. As to the second questions, I'd love a clean championship program but those two things are mutually exclusive. Just be discreet.

Why would I be mad at Wade for going all out to put a winning team on the court. Now if was stealing money, fricking blondes while not doing his job like our former football coach, or had players quit in the middle of the season like our football team then I would be mad at Wade.

But he did what he had to do to bring a consistent winner on the basketball court. The only thing I'm mad at Wade for was not having a fricking bag man.

And OP brings up Johnny like he wasn't the bag man that got us busted in the mid 90's.

I'm not sure what it looks like to "support" someone who is no longer associated with LSU. I was a big fan and was thrilled with the excitement he brought to LSU basketball which was sorely missing. But I understand why we had to can him, and I like the McMahon hire and also think people are overplaying how long of a road it will be to get back to relevance - assuming of course that McMahon doesn't fall flat on his face.

It is possible to do both. I support Will Wade and love what he did with the program while he was here. These same people who seem to hate him because he got caught cheating are the same people who would have been demanding his firing for finishing 4th or 5th in the conference every year but running a squeaky clean program. He did what he felt he had to do to compete in todays college basketball world but unfortunately he did not have the support program here that those other schools have. Do I wish he would have been smarter about it? Yes. But that doesn't mean I can't support him and what he did to make LSU basketball relevant again. And I will 100% support the new coach who now has the benefit of NIL to do legally what Wade couldn't.

I am not one who says “this board does not represent LSU fandom”—but in this case it does not.

The Wade cult is basically five or six noisy idiots on here.

The vast majority of LSU fans either understand why he had to be fired or don’t give a shite one way or the other.

I get it but he set this program back years for a couple of NCAA tourney wins.

Him setting us back from where he was able to elevate the program is still better than what he inherited.

They’ll just stop watching basketball like they were doing before he got here. I pity the fans that will be watching 2-16 SEC seasons… oh wait, damn I’m one of them.

Absolutely. He did what we all knew every program does. Sad thing is, LSU didn’t have anything in place like Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas or Bama in Football that would keep us from getting sanctions. What coach do you know that wants to win so bad he’s paying for down payments on potential recruits girlfriends cars? None. They guy wanted to win at all costs.

The "cult" must be most of the fanbase. Go on social media and you will see how beloved Wade is. Had grandmas and grandpas pissed when he got fired. The ones who hate Wade like Satan here are the minority

Some off us appreciate Wade and do not blame Woodward. Wade did what all the teams do/did that actually win in college basketball. All the stuff he did is legal now thru other avenues. The FBI wasted a fortune in tax payer dollars figuring out this horrible scheme that is now legal anyway. The media hammered LSU 3 or 4 yrs in a row right before the NCAA tournament without touching their darling bluebloods who have also received NOAs Just the entire situation sucks. I do like the Mcmahon hire and hope he gets enough transfers to at least be mediocre next year. But its a big ask.

Woodward had a huge hand in destroying the program - single handedly sabotaged this postseason.

Look how Wisconsin played in the second round - we cruise into a Sweet 16 matchup with Miami under Wade.

Elevate? We don’t have a team right now.
