Through 8 games DJ13 has rushed for 657 yards, an 82.1 yard per game average. Dillon is averaging 4.4 ypc. He is 4th in the SEC in rushing yards behind Roberts (MIZ), Bishop (TN) & Baugh (FLA).
As stated in the title, DJ13 needs 343 yards to eclipse 1000. He needs to average 85.75 per game over the next 4 weeks to reach 1K (regular season).
LSU RUSHING HISTORY
Leonard Fournette holds the single season LSU record with 1,953 yds in 2015.
Jayden Daniels was the last LSU player to hit 1000+ as he rushed for 1,134 yds in 2023.
In all, LSU has produced 22 rushers with 1K or more in a season. Kevin Faulk is the only Tiger to hit 1000 yds in 3 seasons (96,97&98). Leonard did it twice, in 2014 & 2015.
TRIVIA QUESTION
Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran for 1,414 in 2019. Who ran for 1,003 yards between Clyde (2019) & Jayden (2023)?

He might get that against Arky alone (they're bad bad).

LSU career leader in YPC (min 1000yds):
Derrius Guice at 6.5 ypc, 3074 yards overall
Cecil Collins 8.3 ypc but only 72 carries, 596 yards

Both guys wrecked their own careers. Pussy is undefeated.

Get it this game and avoid the anxiety.

4.4 ypc
Win a lot of games 4.2+
The difference between 4.0 and 4.4 can be a big contract buyout.

Good chunk of those came in that Florida game lol. That game was so weird. They couldn’t handle the TE blocking basically the same play over and over.

DJ will make a great NFL running back. He isn't the game breaking 60 yd TD guy but he always gets positive yds, catches the ball out of the backfield and can block. All very important to NFL teams.

4.4 is actually pretty average for the college ranks, it means a lot more at NFL level
Dilin is just a back that does everything really well, except the 1 thing he doesnt really ever do is break the big one lacking the breakaway speed which can really help boost that ypc up to a higher level.
Generally speaking you would overlook 4.4ypc pretty easily, but since he rarely breaks big runs, but also rarely is getting tackled for no gain; you take that all day with him.
Just for reference on the numbers, if you look at SEC RBs with at least 50 carries on the season, 26 guys qualify, 4.4ypc is 17th in that group. He is actually pretty up there with 17 carries of 10+ yards (4th) what i cant see is how many 20-25+ yard runs each has and thats probably where he lack the most. In yards after contact per carry he's 8th which is really good and 2nd behind only Baugh in missed tackles forced. In PFF's D15+ category which is kind of their "big carries" for RBs over 15 years he only has 6 compared to say Bishop at TN with 15. Thats what can really drive that ypc up there.
In 2025 Berry and Durham averaged just over 4.4ypc, just as a reference point, but they had so many no gain/negative yardage plays...they just happened to both be able to pop a big one here and there to have the illusion we had a run game.
I also do think to some extent the amount of plays Dilin gets will have some "off plays" on carries more than RBs who rotate a little bit more with fresh legs. Dilin has more snaps on offense this season than any SEC RB outside of 1.

We ran the counter run play like 95 Nebraska in that game. FL couldn’t stop it. It was pretty wild.

He's a solid back. Not crazy good, but a solid runner who always seems to fall forward where our other backs would get stopped cokd.

This has been one of the best things that has improved. It is absolutely miserable to be behind schedule and/or unable to pick up a short yardage conversion because you can't just turn around and hand it off.
