It’s early but Milam not gonna ride the bench if he keeps this up. Jay likes what he sees.
Why do you think he played so much this weekend?

We all know the test is down the road with better pitching. So far, so good!

My thing is Milam will play second and whoever hits best between Pearson and Brown will play right. If one of Brown, Pearson and Bingham is good enough to play center, Kling could be in danger of losing his spot unless his hitting improves, despite being elite defensively

They would have to hit a lot better, because Kling is elite in center. I think Kling is going to really struggle against SEC pitching unless he tones down that monster swing. He is coming out of his shoes.

THIS! I saw Milam at SS in a spring scrimmage and LOVED his hands. Kid can flat out play!

The kids special. It’s not fair to compare him to former players just yet , but before it’s said and done I think he will break some records.

I was mentioning the other day to my SO how he’s exactly that player we never have but that is the best player on a team we play in a regional or super every few years. I love the way Jay is going out and grabbing scrappy west coast players to sprinkle in the roster.

Only my opinion, but I think CJJ leaves Kling at center as long as possible . JJ loves him some Kling for good reason. The guy is elite at defense, fast, and his bat will heat up. Hopefully he hits well in SEC play.

I also think Braswell stays at Short for the time being and likely all season. So our big questions are who settles into 2nd (obviously Milam if he stays hot) and who takes RF. I think RF if Milam takes 2nd would be Pearson.

Too early to judge anyone's bat. Promising signs for sure, but in a month the pitches will be coming in 10mph faster. Tanks couldn't wait on a few of the balls to get to him, and I would imagine some who are feasting now will revert back to the mean.

Prepare for your downvotes. Almost everyone here will tell you Jay doesn't promise a position to anyone regardless of team need or player talent.

I'm not sure exactly what you're implying here, but there's a big difference between promising a position to Jacob Berry or Tommy White than there is Michael Braswell. I'm sure Jay promised to give him the 1st shot to win the SS job or maybe even that he would start the season there. But there's no way he promised him the SS job all season no matter what. Somebody yesterday said he could hit .150 and still be the starting SS all year. And that just ain't true. He'll have a long leash, but he's gonna have to hit to keep that job.

Kling is the hitter I’m worried about. If there is one thing we know about Jay is that he values a good hitter over defense. Berry and White are great examples.

No way Braswell stays at SS hitting .150, Jay Johnson just isn’t wired like that.

There really isn’t a 2nd SS on the team. Braswell’s spot is very secure.

Why can’t he play short. Braswell will play his way out of the lineup offensively

I think if he can keep that BA at .714 throughout the season, yes, he’ll remain sticky in the lineup.

In fact, I’d probably put money on it.

That would make a good 8 hole hitter

Opposing pitchers trying to find the strike zone on Milam.

I chuckled at his called 3rd strike strikeout this weekend. He was squatty in his stance. That ball was at his shoulders.
