Of course he can do whatever he wishes. I selfishly hope he comes back, because I'm a bigger fan of LSU over any NFL team he could be on. However, there are absolutely cases of "should go" and "should stay." You see them all the time. And in Devin's case, he should go.

You know with a guy like Devin it wouldn’t surprise me for some reason. Guy is a different breed and probably understands nothing in the Pros(other than $) will compare to the time he is spending at LSU. So either way he has our support and he knows that. Dude is his own man and we will soon find out what he wants to do.

I’ll kiss my own arse if Devin White isn’t a top 15 pick.
No way he should return
No way he should return

What does he have to gain by coming back? Nothing.
You have no idea what his values and desires are. You are basing your opinion solely on what you would do in his position or on what you think other football players his age would choose. I think most of us assume that he will go pro, but it's a little irritating when people post what he "should" do.

Interesting caveat is that he could of course take an insurance policy on himself?

Whatever do you mean???? Back-to-back Butkus award winner and he’s still got a Heisman to win, baw!!!
What does back to back Butkus awards do for him? It doesn't earn him millions of dollars. It is just a trophy.
You are insane if you think White has a chance of winning the Heisman. You have Big 12 offenses putting up video game numbers, and you have Tua already etching his name in the Heisman trophy for next year. White will never ever be mentioned.

Plus, an edumacation.... there’s that, too, ya know.....
Because he can't finish his education while being a millionaire, playing in the NFL?

White and Queen trolled Brody Miller. It's a simple play on words. Queen said White told the guys he's coming back "next year" as in Jan 1, 2019 for the Fiesta Bowl.

Weirder things have happened, both LaRon and Dorsey came back as projected first round picks.

As awesome as it would be if he stayed I just don't see him missing out on all that money. He doesn't really have to play in the bowl game, but is anyway. That's enough for me.

Look up Ben Wilkerson.

True but probably nothing close to what Top 15-20 pick would get rookie contract though.

No matter how good you are you only get 4/5 years to play college football and once it's over, it's over. If a guy just absolutely loves being at his school and wants to play one final year with his teammates, coaches, etc., then who am I to say he shouldn't. The NFL will be there next season. The opportunity to play for LSU won't.
That said, if I were advising White I'd have a hard time trying to convince him to stay. He's in position to make life-changing money and the window to do so is relatively small.
Selfishly I'd love to see him play for LSU one final year, but it's in his best interest to enter the draft.

What if it's not always about what he has to personally lose or gain? I don't get what's wrong with him maybe wanting to come back to represent his school and his state. I understand leaving for money in his position, but his attitude is a welcome change for this program. If he were to stay it could finally trigger a culture shift in our program where the guys play for the school and the team rather than themselves. That has been the biggest hurdle for our program since 2012.

Save your irritation.
Objectively, there isn't a reason he should come back. Subjectively, as an LSU fan, I can give you a million, but there's a reason why multi-million dollar, life changing decisions aren't made on subjectivity alone.
Anyone worth his salt would advise any player who is projected first rounder with aspirations to play in the NFL to declare. It's a really dumb decision not to.

I remember last year when Guice was staying. The year before that it was Jamal Adams.
I won't hold my breath.
I won't hold my breath.

Spot on.
So many selfish individuals on this board will refuse to understand it though.

i mean it is possible take out a 20 million dollar insurance policy and come back. Maybe he loves his college experience enough to come back.
Posted on 12/11/18 at 1:11 pm to eauxshiiiii
Look douchebag fans if the dude wants to return stop bashing that decision, you people are insufferable. Money dont rule everyone some people have personal goals that aren't financially motivated. It's possible he loves playing in college and hasn't achieved what he set out to accomplish personally and wants another shot at it. Once you go pro every dream you had in college if not achieved is over. Respect his decision either way
