I get what you're saying and it makes sense. Some fans refuse to face the reality of the situation, but let him a few games, and those same fans will be calling for his firing.
IMO, I wish he would have gotten rid of the entire defensive staff. Our defense was improved, but they were no where near elite by any means. Blake Baker has been at LSU for two years - plenty of time to correct our problems - and we still can't stop a running QB.
LSU fans constantly boast about our defense because our offense was so putrid, anything the defense did was going to stand out. I consider Baker an average DC, but hopefully with Kiffin around we can score enough points to overcome Baker's shortcomings. Once he learns how to stop a running QB, I'll consider him a better than average DC.
