That’s absolutely not a troll.
How long before someone is in jail for laundering money through NIL?

Do you have a problem with them receiving scholarship money?

Playing college football is a full time job. If you think they’re doing “nothing” you are likely mentally deficient.

I didn't think they could make it conditional on the kid staying or playing.
That’s what I thought too. Would love to know the official rule.
I’m sure if it was LSU, the NCAA would launch an immediate investigation

They get scholarship perks for being on the football team. They are also getting a truck for being on the football team.

Kids college traditions good bye, it’s over
I still watch games, but my excitement level on Saturdays went from a 10 to a 5.

Still don’t understand this. Seems it has evened the playing field more than anything. Playoff is more wide open this year than it ever has been. There’s a reason Bama doesn’t have a legit qb right now.

That’s pretty much the rule that the NCAA has parroted.
NIL deals can’t be contingent upon athletics participation, athletic performance, or attendance at a particular school. At least that’s what the NCAA NIL “guidance” says.
However, the actual NCAA interim NIL policy (which remains in effect because they somehow still haven’t implemented a permanent policy) says the following:
quote:
• For institutions in states without NIL laws or executive actions or with NIL laws or executive actions that have not yet taken effect, if an individual elects to engage in an NIL activity, the individual’s eligibility for intercollegiate athletics will not be impacted by application of Bylaw 12 (Amateurism and Athletics Eligibility).
• For institutions in states with NIL laws or executive actions with the force of law in effect, if an individual or member institution elects to engage in an NIL activity that is protected by law or executive order, the individual’s eligibility for and/or the membership institution’s full participation in NCAA athletics will not be impacted by application of NCAA Bylaws unless the state law is invalidated or rendered unenforceable by operation of law.
This is, I think, the kicker for Utah. In states like Louisiana and Texas, Bylaw 12 (Amateurism and Athletics Eligibility) applies for actions that are not protected by the state NIL law.
Utah, on the other hand, is one of the few states that has not passed a formal NIL law. In that case, the NCAA interim policy says that Bylaw 12 doesn’t apply at all for NIL activities. So ironically, Utah can do whatever they want as long as they can say it’s NIL-related.
(For those who didn’t click the OP’s link, the tweet says the leases on the trucks will be terminated in the event the player transfers or loses eligibility.)

They knew they didn’t have a qb. They saw Milroe play last year. They couldn’t get a better QB to transfer than Tyler Buchner? They threw money at drake maye and that didn’t work. How much would red elephant club pay for Caleb williams? Once every team can pay players, it’s not as easy to get those guys to your school.

Amateur athletes make it amateur athletics, no matter what the schools and coaches were getting.
We no longer have amateur athletics. You are free to think that’s no loss. I am free to think it pulls the rug out entirely from college sports.
