But Raymond made DBU! Or did DBU make Raymond? Personally I think it's a combo of the two (like it often is when it comes to things like this). But we'll be fine, it's not like we'll only be able to settle for 2* DBs going forward without Raymond. Personally I think after the last 5 years or so I wonder if Raymond is only good at getting talent here but awful at developing them because too often DBs under him have been better in freshman years than later on. Maybe Fulton and Delpit are his best examples of them getting better after their first year starting?

And a host of others like Boutte, Queen, Godchaux, Gage, etc.

Big deal. Yall are fricking crazy if you think CR going to Florida is not going to have any impact on LSU's DBU brand.

Additionally LSU is at fault here they did not pay him what he was worth.

Cool...this list + CR's list will also be true for the next DB coach but whatever.

LSU fans can convince themselves of anything.

Arkansas fans still feel that hit to this day.

Miss that guy. Was a boss.

Corey Webster

He and Spears just took over games in '03. Was incredible to behold.

Tyrann Mathieu

Still the best instincts I've ever seen by any player at any level of football. Hands down the most electrifying defensive player of this century thus far.

Arkansas' Decori Birmingham and Iowa's Warren Holloway would disagree.

I’m not trying to diminish Raymond at all. But this recruiting area is just heavy at that position so it is relatively easier to find a DB than an OL or even QB, historically.

It’s a blow to lose him, but we will be fine. I’d actually like for us to go back to being known for hard hitting safeties rather than the lockdown corner approach. You can have the 2 best guys in the country but your game plan suffers if they are hurt or decide not to play.

Some of my favorite players ever for LSU regardless of position.

Webster was without a doubt the best DB I have ever seen in college just completely dominant, when ball was in the air you held your breath.

Travis Daniels was the begining of the change at LSU the team first mentality came out. (Nuss is in this position now) LSU made it to.the sec championship vs Tenn and like all of our DBs were out and Saban went to the db room and asked Daniels if he would burn his red shirt for him and cover tenne6 best WR during game. And he did and dominated. (I feel Saban also felt he owed his guy and drafted him while he was still the coach in Miami)

Mathieu don't really need to say anything. He should have been the heisman winner was without a doubt the most dominant player in college football that year and ever from a defensive and special teams outlook, straight robbed bc he was on defense.

While I agree with you for the most part. Tyrann missed a few games that year due to suspension. That is what cost him the Heisman. When Tyrann went out, Ron Brooks stepped up.

I just think about players like Donte Jackson, Tre'Davious White, and Kristian Fulton. Players that never quite lived up to potential or were disappointing, but they get to the NFL and they are some of the top corners in the league.

I think CR was a great recruiter but really couldn't coach these guys up, relying on the talent he brought in to make him look better than he was.

What amazes me is that LSU was able to win two NC prior to him arriving at LSU. Prior to 2012 I do remember we having a physical brand of football. Not knocking CR but the last several years of LSU FB we have lost a lot of games due to busted coverage. Teams have made a living in beating LSU on big plays.

It's because 90% of the fan base has no clue as to whether or not he is even a good coach. They don't know how great of a a recruiter he is. Just a bunch of horses led to water that follow the narrative of the board.

Here's another angle. He's been a defensive back coach at LSU for 10 years and has never been offered a promotion. With his tenure, you would think he would be in line to be the interim coach for the bowl game. Maybe some people other than tiger droppings finest posters know a little bit more about the situation.

So pardon me if I yawn at LSU going in a different direction and letting the new coach build his staff
