From my seats, it looked like the only spots that emptied out early were the west sideline and the student section

The place was pretty damn full until the 3rd quarter. The family next to us left at the end of the 3rd quarter, not because they wanted to beat traffic, but because the dad said "I can't watch anymore of this shite."

As I said, I don’t care how poorly we happened to be playing in a given game, over half the lower bowl leaving in a 17-10 SEC matchup at night in great weather never used to happen. It just didn’t.

The east side seems to keep the stands full . The west side is pathetic.

I sit on the West. East side thinned out before halftime. South club as well.

South EZ stays through the game.

Students stayed through half but started emptying out after the 3rd.

There’s your problem. Ever heard of a comeback? Can’t have a home field advantage with fans like these.

Weak, fat, lazy, indifferent. So lazy that they cannot even sit in one place and cheer for three hours. That's the real answer. The crowds of yesteryear were tougher, more passionate about the team, and had attention spans greater than a sleepy toddler.

Well, every game wasn’t televised either. Most can’t stand not having cell service that long. FYI, everyone around me that left were skinny people that can’t hold their liquor.

But hey, most of this board is made up of men that bitch about those attending games that haven’t been in years.

I've said this many times. There needs to be seat accounting. Scannable codes on the front of every seat back, if the system scans the code and registers the seat as empty, it goes into an instant sales pool at the gates of Tiger Stadium at a reduced cost. Sells more tickets, fills more seats, increases revenue, makes the experience better.

This is the answer. Games used to be accessible to common folk, now it's only for the guys well-off and too afraid to mess up their hair.

It’s a concerning trend that the fans can’t be bothered to stay during a very competitive game. Maybe we are spoiled as a fanbase.

Agreed. It is shocking how many people empty at half time. Have the bars stepped up their game that much? I will say the in game atmosphere is slightly better but the best thing they can do to keep people in their seats is to provide reliable WiFi. 98% of the people in the stadium just want to check scores etc etc. LSU will continue to lose season ticket holders if they cannot address this.

8&4 usually brings a lot of their fans and they tend to stay the entire game. It was enjoyable in 2021 staying until the end to see their dreams of winning in Tiger Stadium go up in flames.

There’s a lot of reasons for this and it’s becoming a major problem at LSU

Traffic (stupid reason)
Atmosphere has been killed with piped music
Product on field
Comfort of home

And an issue that will continue to decline the participation is crime & thuggery around the stadium - it’s a problem that isn’t going away

I think it’s a combination of a few things. We’ve had a ton of success, so the fan base is no longer hungry. Because we’ve had a ton of success, the cost of entry into the stadium means that most of the people in the lower bowl are even less hungry than the average fan. Further, the in home Gameday experience has never been better (huge TVs, every game televised) while the in stadium Gameday experience has never been worse (extremely long games with massive, energy killing TV timeouts).

It’s a recipe for apathy.

Most of those very expensive sideline seats are owned either by companies or inherited from grandparents. The people sitting there have no skin in the game.

This. I don't need to watch TV on my phone, but being able to send a receive a text message isn't asking for much.

If you look at the end zones where the real fans are you will see that they are full the whole. The corporate ticket people on the east side who don’t care about the outcome are the ones who leave.

The home field advantage died years ago.

The new tradition is leaving early.

It all starts with the Student Section. It starts emptying out around the 3rd quarter. The students have to leave to get to all of the Parties that start at 8:30.

The “on the field product” argument doesn’t hold water. If the Tigers didn’t turn it over and scored TD’s on every possession…those same people would leave because they ain’t staying for No blowout.

People don’t have the attention spans to watch a Football game for 3 hours anymore.

West side seems worse than the east side. West never filled up and emptied early. Granted, I’m on the east side of the NEZ, so I can see the west better from my seats

That's not the only reason folks leave.

A lot of people leave because they’ve been drinking since the morning and they’re exhausted and dehydrated and want to drink some more. Lots of alcoholics find it hard to stay engaged for 4 hours of a football game.
