McDonnell: He’s always had Louisville in the national spotlight and recruited really well. He has stated before LSU is the quintessential job as a college coach. After a year of covid and getting pissed off at the people in Kentucky, maybe he decides to make a move.

“I’m beyond frustrated. I’m tired of it.”

Vitello: He has really shown he can build something. After 2 full seasons, in his third this year, he has taken the Vols to new heights and earned a national seed no matter where they finish in the SEC Tournament. He is clearly a fiery guy and we need someone who can get pissed off and protect his team when something doesn’t go our way.

I've been watching Louisville the last couple weekends...don't like what I've been seeing. Pitching not good enough, bats not good enough, defense shaky, lineup changing day to day...sound familiar? By the way, they've been swept back to back weekends, UNC and Miami.

I was one of the first banging the drum for McDonnell, but this season gives me pause. Plus, he's 50+. Vitello is 42, just beginning his career. I want him to be the LSU coach when he starts winning big, and make no mistake, he will win big.

Tony Vitello needs to be the first person.

The way he built the rosters at TCU, Arkansas, and Tennessee has been incredible.

Totally agree with those two. After listening to Ronnie Rance radio show yesterday it appears to be a forgone conclusion Sauce is gone. His guy is Cliff Godwin who’s got a very good resume as well. This is exciting that’s it’s really going to happen

I wonder if A&M announced their coach was stepping down so quickly bc they want to get out in front of a possible LSU coaching search once our season ends?

We would hope that, if this is really going to happen, that there have already been conversations with the prospective coaches or their agents.

If the rumor that Paul has already told Woodward that he’ll be retiring after this season is true then LSU’s coaching search has been quietly taking place for months.

Tim tadlock is who I’d be after and I’d have the offer before A&M can.

Woodward is about to return to that well he visited at A&M. LSU is gonna end up with a washed up coach from Florida who's won a National Championship but is now underachieving.

Tony's first year at Tennessee, he brought in 80 players during the fall and cut half. Are we prepared for him to do the same at LSU?

I don’t know what those circumstances were but it sounds like open walk on tryouts. I doubt he brought in 80 players who expected to have a roster spot. And it goes without saying he wouldn’t have to do that here in any case.

He had a lot of walk on tryouts, but he also didn’t cut any commits from the previous staff before they got to campus. Like he didn’t pull their offers.

He was very upfront with guys and told them their chances of playing and some guys still decided to stick around.

Some of the guys he recruited that have transferred out are starting at top 25 schools or are in the weekend rotation at top 15 schools.

Our transfers out can’t get innings at the jucos they go to.
