Waco isn’t far at all from Austin and Dallas and has a decent enough downtown. It isn’t like a really tiny college town in the middle of nowhere.

John Williams wasn’t the only one. I personally knew of money handed to many a player back in those days. Daddy was as dirty as there was. What a damn lying hypocrite.

Imagine what Wade would have done with Chris Jackson, Shaq and Stanley Roberts.

Brown had other great players such as Dwayne Scales, Rudy Macklin, Howard Hi-C Carter, Ethan Martin, John Williams and Don Reddon but never played in a national title game.

The scary piece to this is that Dale Brown still has a ton of influence on Collis Temple.

And Collis Temple is literally the most powerful person at LSU where it comes to basketball. Temple is the conduit between Jim Bernhard and the official athletic department.

Meaning that if Dale is shite-talking Wade, it could well mean Temple is looking to run Wade off.

And Woodward's job is to execute whatever the old BR mob wants done. With the reward being Woodward gets to hire his own guy in that job.

There has been a lot of talk in the last couple of weeks that within a year Woodward will be replacing all four major coaches at LSU. Recent performance doesn't indicate that's all that good a thing. The LSU version of Scott Woodward is not the Washington or Texas A&M version. He wasn't plugged into the politics of either of those places like he is here.

Aside from Mo, Vernell (who had some time at C before the twin towers arrived), and a strong arse bench. It was an epic waste of talent. Any night CJ could stroke 40-50 and you had twin 7-footers.

the only conclusion that can be drawn is that Wade hasn’t been willing to “kiss the ring” of Brown and/or the BR connections

This has to be it. And the fact he replaced Dale's guy Johnny.

He essentially enlisted Vitale as a mouthpiece to keep the allegations in the news, and campaign to have the court named after him. It's fricking bizarre behavior.

It’s the behavior of an elderly man with a fan base that knows who he is that gets smaller every year.

He wants to be immortalized and Wade is apparently in the way.

That's how THEY see it there.

I don't disagree with your formulation.

Old man needs to shut the F up and go back to finding Bigfoot. Like Dale and his bagman Johnny were saints.

Dale Brown is such a fricking loser. The guy was bringing in Top Talent from California. He never won shite with all the players we had, left us on probation and the program in shambles. Brady came in and cleaned up his mess in 3 years and won the Conference. He's so overrated. He's pissed off every coach since him, he pissed Brady off. He just needs to stop speaking publicly.
When you can't make it to the Sweet 16 with Shaq and the other players we had around him, you know you're a bad x's and o's coach.
After one of many losses to Indiana, wasn't Bobby Knight quoted in the Postgame presser asking if he was worried when IU was down, Knight said, No I looked across the court and Saw Dale Brown

When Dale got to LSU, the program was dead and students wouldn't even attend games for free. He brought excitement to the program, packed the Assembly Center, had exciting teams, and took the Tigers to a couple of Final Fours.

Beyond that, I don't know what he did or didn't do, and I don't know how much influence he has on the program now. Apparently he doesn't have much if Will Wade is the cooach.

Everyone knows Wade cheats, even if you want to pretend he doesn't, yet people revere him for doing the same things they accuse Dale Brown of doing, while he hasn't accomplished a fraction of what Brown did.

Doesn't matter if people like Brown or not. He's the most successful basketball coach in LSU history, and Will Wade gets lauded for bumping the Sweet Sixteen. We fire football and baseball coaches for that.

Agree this is the master plan, but all 4 in a calendar year post Covid is ambitious. Woody is going to need NCAA help to run Wade, but for the first time at LSU he is having significant difficulty pulling the recruits/portals he wants. Is this culmination of relentless hit pieces, or something more sinister internally?

Not sure what Woody is waiting for with Nikki? SJW concerns?

Agree we aren’t getting the UW or A&M version of Woody except for the occasional articulate soundbite; this version has been bought and controlled by the power brokers you referenced. No chance the brokers leave him alone when he wants to make a football HC hire.

Deep down, I wonder if Woody has regrets coming to LSU. He’s been inept on Title IX response and as you described is toothless in his role/capacity to make changes.

LSU is in trouble, will need a real leader and vision with the President hire. Any word on that search?

I have absolute irrefutable personal knowledge Dale had folks paying players to come to LSU. WHATS HILARIOUS is that the ones I know of were of no help or contribution.
