There a Bobby Knight blurb that says something to the effect of he looked over at the LSU bench and saw Stanley Roberts, Shaq, and Chris Jackson and thought oh shite. Then he saw Dale Brown and realized he would be ok.

Close, but not accurate. It was the elite 8 game in 1987 when we had an 8 point lead late in the second half. Knight said that during a timeout he was worried. He then looked down at the other bench and realized dale would find a way to blow the game-and he did. This was when Knight threw his tantrum, banged the press table phone, and got EVERY MOTHERFREAKING CALL the last 5 minutes of the game, including a RIDICULOUS charge on us where the iu player clearly slid under our guy driving to the basket.

Exactly - Johnny's last team and the program he left was every bit as bad as what Dale inherited. If fact the program he left Brady with - the looming probation that significantly affected recruiting for years and completely gutted in every aspect - was in reality worse than both.
