Uh, you know they keep records of wins and losses, right?

Very ignorant statement. I assume you are very young and don't know LSU basketball history.

thanks, young punks in here are clueless, don't have a lot of knowledge of... hell, just about anything

Motivating players was Dale Brown's principal skill as a coach. His in-game management was just horrendous, even during the good times of 1978-81. And generally his teams were undisciplined and turned the ball over at a dizzying pace. And never forget: it was Dale Brown who squandered the biggest lead in NCAA basketball history, by 31 points midway in the 2nd half, in an eventual loss to Kentucky in 1994.

I too think it is ridiculous to say Wade has accomplished as much, let alone more, than Brown accomplished at LSU. But what do you mean by this....?

If Wade played by the NCAA Tournament eligibility rules Dale Brown played under, LSU would not have made the tournament the last two years.

HOLY shite. One of the best posts I've seen.

A) No mention of an entire tournament being cancelled...one that LSU would have gone to and gotten a favorable seed
B) No mention that LSU was a 3-seed and one of the best teams in the country and a blind man could lead that team to the Sweet 16
C) No mention that Wade took over a 2-16 team and brought the team to the 2nd round of the NIT.

much harder to make the tourney in the 70's when only 32 teams were invited

Dale doesn't know shite about what other programs do or don't do. He needs to just shut up. He also thought F King was a great president for LSU. Seems F King has had some issues lately.

Dale had a great run and took a pathetic LSU basketball program and turned it into an exciting and consistent winner. That can never be taken away from him. But he has been out of the game for a long time now and has no clue as to what goes on, so it's best just to not comment.

John Brady had already surpassed Dale Brown in that respect.

Lolz. No he hadn't. Brady gets more flack than he should have, sure, but saying he surpassed Brown by any measure is laughable.

I don't think there is anyone in the world whose image has totally changed more than Brady.

He's become a likable personality. He tells it like it is but doesn't step on the current coach. He's funny, had good personality.

He was hated at the end.

not going out on a limb to surmise that he knows a great deal more about that than you do, regardless how long he's been out of coaching

He absolutely was. I was one of them. I realize now that I'm a bit older how silly that was. It was time for him to go, but all indications since then are that he is a good guy and he obviously is loyal to LSU and does a great job representing. On the pretty rare occasions that I listen to parts of basketball games and post game shows on the radio, I really love listening to him. And like you said, he's always had Wade's back.

He said Mark Few and Scott Drew do things the right way and don't cheat. I like those coaches, but do you honestly think Dale Brown knows enough about the Baylor and Gonzaga programs to make that assertion? I wouldn't think 86-year-old Dale Brown knows much more than I do about those programs as a casual fan. It's not like he's recruiting for or against them or has daily dealings with their programs. If he does, I'll be happy to say take my comment back.

there's your difference, he's not a casual fan, he may not be 100% accurate, but his "sauces" are a lot closer to the subject matter than TD or "The Fan," or Cowherd, etc., not meaning to argue but he probably has his feeble, 86 year old hand a lot closer to the pulse than you, or I for that matter, ever will

ETA: a lot of coaches go to those old school guys as mentors and keep in constant contact, CEO went as far as to put one on the parroll didn't he?

Dale hasn't been a college coach for 25 years. He didn't have to recruit in the era where AAU basketball was the primary marketplace for talent instead of HS basketball. He may have a good relationship with Homer Drew, but I doubt Scott would be telling Homer EXACTLY how the sausage is made. And while Mark Few and Tony Bennett (both significantly younger than Brown) may or may not be "clean", I doubt Brown has enough inside info to conclusively make that determination one way or the other.

One thing I DO know is that he was the biggest cheerleader for Jones and was arguably the most influential person in bringing him to LSU. So I doubt he just got his protégé Jones in place then just quietly went back to Walden leaving Jones completely on his own. And if you don't remember, BOTH Jarell Martin and Tim Quarterman were on a list among several players nationwide who were purportedly given "loans" by agents while they were at LSU.

Apparently we all forgot that Jones, a virtually unknown coach outside of Louisiana and Denton, TX took over a LSU program that had been pathetic under Johnson and within a very short time period signed the 6th ranked class in the country out of nowhere. The reality is Jones was (out of necessity) playing the same game Wade is accused of playing. I promise you Brown knows that.

For whatever reason Brown currently has spite for Wade and/or the current LSU basketball program. Perhaps he is just bitter. Perhaps he's being used as the mouthpiece for an athletics department that secretly wants to get rid of Wade but is hesitant to do so because of the success he has had thus far relative to the last 30 years of LSU basketball. Most, if not all currently involved either saw first hand or are well aware of the Vandy game in 2019 when the fanbase, with as much collective vitriol as I've ever seen at an LSU sporting event, went after the AD who was not too long after relieved of his duties. They know getting rid of Wade right now without some compelling reason (likely sanction or poor performance on the court) will bring the wrath of their customer base once more. Woodward's honeymoon at LSU is OVER. The fans will gladly turn on him as they did with Alleva if prompted.

Dale sure could mentor those "coaches doing things the right way" how to cheat. Lord and the NCAA knows how dirty college basketball was and still is to the present day. Dale is foolish if he thinks people don't remember his sordid legacy.

Fine, include all of your ifs and buts against Wade. List out his postseason results with those in his first 4 years, and list out browns postseason results in his first 4 years.

What was dale brown’s record in the ncaa tournament in his first 4 years?

How many postseason appearances did dale brown’s teams have in his first 4 years?

How many sec championships did dale brown have in his first 4 years?

Where did dale brown’s first 4 teams finish in the conference standings?

What was dale brown’s sec record for his first 4 years?

What was dale brown’s overall record for his first 4 years?

I didn't see a shot at Wade. I wish Brady and Dale had gotten along. Brady would still be coaching, we'd be playing D and probably have a few championships by now.
