Can we just make it after Shaq, and then have all the companies he owns contribute NIL$?

You know what's another difference. Sue would never had cared about having her name on the court or found it important. Dale does.

In three years of coaching Shaq, Dale Brown never made it to the Sweet 16. Shaq took the Magic to the NBA finals in just his 3rd season in the NBA.

Hey - let’s name a court after a long time cheater. I bet that NOT A SINGLE season between 1977 and 1998, he didn’t have at least one player on his team where he didn’t cheat to get that player or keep him. I know this personally. You can down vote all you want. That is who got honored
I guess I never considered paying players in basketball cheating since all the good programs do it.
Plus Lester Earl said he lied. He never received a box of cash.

You can't seriously believe Earl was the only player Dale bought. As has been stated here, Dale cheating is one thing, as noted, everyone was doing it. But the way he ranted & raved against the NCAA about cheating was so hypocritical he made a fool out of himself and LSU. Abernathy getting caught with that suitcase full of money & his / LSU's explanation was only one such example.

Off topic and CSB but there actually is an Alvin Dark Stadium in LC but there haven’t been any games there since pre Laura.

I Could only take a few minutes of moscona this morning. So embarrassing for him shilling for brown like this in the name of integrity. I generally like listing to him becuase I love consuming lsu content however I can. He’s typically straight and calls out bullshite and backs up what he says with substance (even if I don’t agree with his take). Man, for this, it’s sad and clear he’s pushing an agenda that is dubious at best.
I have no personal opinion if Gunter’s name is added or not but what moscona lays out makes it sound much more questionable than what appears to be happening.
I don’t remember the whole process last year and when the Gunter camp tried to add her but his big argument is they voted last year and now there’s some big secret conspiracy trying to get them to vote again with secret meetings and politicking. Literally everything at that level is politicking. Of course board members will talk and try to make their cases for what they want.
He says it’s secret but he’s been reporting/hinting about it for weeks. There’s some guy that has interviews with parties involved on the record. How is that secret? He says it hurts browns legacy. How? He has dumb comparisons to renaming the Washington monument.
I trust that if there was any meat to this he would make the legit logical case but there has been none and it sounds like people in one camp are just pissy and using local media to drum up support.
This makes me like brown less and want to go against whatever his camp wants. They might as well take his name off and leave it blank for all I care.

It's the only reason I'm totally for it now. Maybe he can swing me back his way if he manned up and did the whining personally instead of through media emissaries.

Let’s name it Chapman Gunther court to get all of the misspellings together

Funny how they celebrate Dale but Wade is a monster.

If you didn’t win a championship, sorry your name shouldn’t be on a stadium, field, or court. Thanks for your service to the university though.

i heard that yesterday. was perplexed at his obvious hyperbole. he made me question his agenda more than the agenda he was "reporting" on. sounded personal to him in a way i did not expect. i'd love to tell the pc crowd where to go, but i just had the feeling both sides are disingenuous and are not to be trusted--at least the way Mascona framed it.
I was in school when Brown came and was a much bigger BB fan than FB. was a big fan back then, but honestly his strong personality (what it took) wore thin. i don't like the whole familiarity breeds contempt way of thinking, but i don't think naming the court for both dishonors Dale Brown, even though i don't care for the movers, if their stated motives are correct.

This is how much Dale cares about the program:
Goes running to an enemy of the program, that has spent the last 4 years trying to cripple the program, to try to further drag the school through the mud. Should take that piece of shite's name off the court tonight.

How ABSURD - in Louisiana the Governor wants to change the name of the LSU basketball court that was named DALE BROWN COURT in a dedication ceremony about a year ago . This is wacky Dale deserved the honor & it finally was affirmed & now UGLY POLITICS is involved .

So let's step back a second and list the people who are stirring up the most shite about this:
Tim Brando
Collis Temple
Dick Vitale
Matt Moscona
Jim Engster
That there is a dog with a whole lot of fleas on it.

Also lends more credence to the idea of Dale running to Vitale to get him to shite talk Wade for years.

To me, this is a ridiculous topic.
Until LSU has another Pete Maravich (and Shaq came close) or wins a national championship, nobody in basketball had any business naming anything about anything.
I was a student during Dale Brown's years. Most people on this board are too young to know how far LSU basketball had fallen once Pete left.
The old stories about Brown driving around the state and giving out nets for basketball goals is true. He had to literally start from the bare ground up in building a program that had become irrelevant.
Dale's contribution, therefore, goes beyond his won-lost record and his NCAA finishes. He left under faltering circumstances, but even then he left the program in far better shape overall than when he arrived in 1972.
For those reasons, okay, I can see why there was a push to honor him with his name on the court.
It shouldn't have passed, in my opinion. But it did, and it's not "wrong" that Brown's name is there.
But to somehow equate Sue Gunter with Brown is insanity. Women's basketball was an oft-ignored lesser sport at LSU when she got here, and it was still ignored and unimportant when she left. It would be a travesty to put her name on the court - especially when Kim Mulkey's name is already on the verge of eclipsing Gunter's.
Dale was controversial, to be sure. He was outspoken. He battled the NCAA constantly (and for good reasons).
Was he a good coach? Sometimes.
Was he a great recruiter? Absolutely. And LSU benefited from its association with those names.
Gunter's chain-smoking and her sexuality drove Dale crazy. He thought she set a poor example, and in those times he was right.
Gunter is a part of LSU athletic history. No question about that. But her contribution and impact is not worthy of naming the main basketball floor after her. Not even close.
