not blocking the plate?
He had the ball

Is that against the rules? I mean he has a right to it....
In the pros yes it is illegal. Foster would have been ruled safe. Good play though. Stunned he wasn't able to score because that ball wasn't hit all that hard.

With two outs, how is he not there sooner?
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:21 pm to Sandy_Ash
There was no plate for Foster to slide to.
Dude dropped his knee and was completely blocking it

Fosters leg made contact with the catcher before the ball got there. That is blocking and not allowed in college. But can't really blame the ump for missing that
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:21 pm to MondayMorningMarch
yep you run his bitch arse over and he wont do that again
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:21 pm to catholictigerfan
The rule about blocking the plate must have been changed, because it's happening a lot. If they can block now, the runner should be allowed to plow over the catcher. It's only fair.

So I guess it's okay to run the catcher over then
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:22 pm to Broke
I would have never thought Foster would get thrown out there. That was a incredible throw.

Perfect throw and play by the catcher. Can't fault anyone there. Textbook stuff.
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:22 pm to BamaHater
I'm pretty sure you can do it. You can do it in high school.
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:22 pm to JumpingTheShark
Took a perfect play to get him considering running on contact with two outs. Poor luck on our part

Why not slide on your stomach with your hand to the side?
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:22 pm to Kracka
he has to have the ball. I need to double check it with the rules but I think that is the rule.
Posted on 6/14/15 at 3:22 pm to BamaHater
In MLB, he is safe. MLB requires catcher to give a path to the plate while waiting for the ball.
Not sure NCAA rules.

top 4, Cody Jones leading off, Poche on the mound
strike, 0-1
foul, 0-2
chopper back to Poche, very high throw to 1st gets away, Jones gets all the way to 3rd

Foster had literally no where to go and he held up at the end and slid late because of it.
I have no idea on the rules there. Can they run catchers over in college? Lol
