Texas Schedule - (RPI) vs LSU (9) vs Georgia (1) at Kentucky (41) vs Florida (15) LSU Schedule - (RPI) at Texas (2) vs Alabama (13) vs Tennessee (14) at South Carolina (62)

Out of the 4 series you listed. Texas had 3 home and 1 away. The worst team they played was away.

LSU was 2 away 2 home. The best and the worst team listed is away.

Not saying LSU had hardest schedule in the SEC, they obviously didn’t. But Texas was very fortunate to get their tough series at home. Kentucky or State (both very much bubble NCAA tournament teams) are the best teams that Texas has won a single game on the road against.

K/9 is a pretty irrelevant stat imo. ERA means way more than either of those two honestly. Who cares how many you strike out if you give up more runs

They just played their 1st tough road series and got swept. It matters where you play home or away....they played Missouri, state, and KY on the road prior to playing at arkansas.

LSU should've beat A&M Sunday. Jay experimenting to much. Should be ok in tournament.

So does UT. The stats don't lie at this point in the season

They don’t have a single pitcher in the top 10 ERA in the SEC

Then you obviously did not look at the pitching stats. A&M is middle of the pack in pitching stats. Not sure where this A&M has great pitching narrative is coming from.

Its actually pretty easy for anyone sort of following college baseball to understand. Texas lost one of its better hitters and ace pitcher for the year to injury before last week. Texas has been in alot of close games where they’ve been fortunate to come out on top. Also, theyve played alot of their tougher games at home. Also, despite Texas A&Ms slow start, most know they have alot of talent, and were supposed to start the year strong. The advanced stats for the both teams are fairly similar, suggesting A&M is even better when discounting the slow start.
Not sure i agree with the assetion that A&M has a weak or average pitching staff. Their offense is what slowed them early on. They are 14th nationally in siera and 27th in xFIP. They also dont give away waljs. 2nd in base on balls percentage. Also, 13th in WHIP. I think their staff is really good, and arguably better than texas

It also does not account for the fact that the head-to-head was at Texas, Texas got Auburn and A&M at home, and Texas hasn’t played at Oklahoma yet.

If you’re not using xFIP you’re not getting the whole picture

Is there a way to bet A&M doesn’t win?

You can take a field bet but the money needed to lay down at those odds will be pretty horrible for you.

Aggies are worth throwing a hundred on. They’re going to screw up someone’s regional.

Is it? They lost their ace for the year and just got swept. Lines are going to adjust for such a thing. Because of their insane start they will still end up a national seed but I wouldn't be surprised if they get bounced in the supers and miss Omaha altogether. Obviously the games will still be played but it's understandable that their stock has dropped significantly.

That was 28-2 game or something like that. I think it’s still the worst loss in program history.

I understand that Texas had an easier away schedule. But if you look at the schedule in perspective of how the coaches thought the SEC would finish, which I guess would be a better way to figure out if the schedule was gamed in their favor somehow, ours and theirs are very similar.

LSU
at Texas A&M 1
at Texas 8
at Oklahoma 11
at Auburn 12
at South Carolina 14

Texas
at Arkansas 3
at Mississippi St. 9
at Kentucky 10
at Oklahoma 11
at Missouri 16

Hilarious how this is playing out in football too.

Texas was never better than those other teams. They won a ton of close games to get to 19-2. Those things even out over time.

I would have to say I believe Texas has more pitching talent, and A&M has better talent in the lineup. Overall I would say A&M is more talented. What I think is most impressive about Texas is their consistency up until this past weekend/injuries. They aren’t dominating, but they haven’t been having the awful games either.
