Injuries happen. I get it.

But LSU now has a culture that seems unique to our team in that players seem to opt out at an alarming clip compared to other programs.

Too many underclassmen that are borderline high draft picks opting out.

New regime needs to figure out a way to get our guys to buy in to the program and play for the Purple and Gold and not just use the program for some tape provider to get to the league

You hit nail on head...

Buy in to program

Right now, and seems to be unique to LSU, it is a culture of me.

That said, if I am staring at a $10 million NFL contract next year and playing for nothing, I am not buying in.

The program has to earn the player's respect. LSU seemingly does not have anything close to respect by the players.

Is it too much of emphasizing NFLU to these guys?

The 1st Round draft picks need to bolt going into their Sr year.

But the guys getting second day draft grades are the ones that need to be recruited back the hardest.

Hate to harp on Bama, but somehow their staff is able to talk a majority of these guys into coming back.

Yanking pro-day privileges would be a start.

“Lol” you do know a lot of guys rely on proday over the combine, right? They evaluate different things.

If I am Ricks, Gay or Stingley and I am injured and told I need surgery. And I look the injury, risk and the direction of this season and apply a cost benefit analysis.

I am shutting it down and having the surgery.

These players have pro potential and have to do their best to prepare for that.

I think NFLSU helps recruiting. It kills retainment.

This has gotten bad lately. I've always stated that if you went to college or not, you had to be 4 years removed from high school to go pro. I know it's never been a popular opinion but IF college was a place to get an education, they should make it a 4 year stop, no opting out for pros. Just my opinion. But NCAA let the pros screw them on this matter. They should have stuck to their guns years ago.

No one. Idiots are using a few opt outs last year and applying it where it doesn't apply this year. It's dumb. Stingley and Ricks both have been playing through their injuries already. If they wanted to quit they could have done it a long time ago. If Ricks had waited until after the season to have surgery and missed part of next year they would have been bitching about that.

The whole program needs a reset. I would say the whole state but we all know that will never happen in Louisiana

Sure have the program send the signal that LSU really only cares about your future when you are playing for LSU. Wouldn't help with recruiting or the culture of the prgogram. Watch what happens if LSU alienates kids who leave early.

A complete program wipe needs to happen. Not a Miles to Orgeron type hangover staff. Get rid of everyone and start fresh and change the culture. Strength and conditioning too, everyone. It needs to happen.

O on down to compliance and S&C all gone would help.

Raymond is a great DB coach but maybe its time for him to move as well. Faulk, is an LSU legend so we can find a role for him that isn't on field if need be.

Sounds like they need a new sales pitch. Either way, that culture needs to change to be competitive year after year. This approach is not sustainable and it is showing.
