re: Culotta: Max Johnson clearly number 1 and not even close.

Some of you are so gullible.
Jordy is using the back-up QB to generate listeners to his show. Myles won the job last year, he was the far better QB against the 1st string defense, and looks to have recovered nicely from a serious injury.
Culotta knows from reading this board that the back-up QB for LSU always generates the most interest, and he's fueling that fire. All other media persons (that aren't trying to generate a new audience) has said Brennan was the better QB. Jordy also knows that you don't use escapability as an asset in a spring game, when the QBs are wearing yellow jerseys.
Its a ruse to get you some of you frothing at the mouth.
Myles Brennan established himself as the favorite, even if Ed Orgeron isn’t ready to name him as such.
The first half was all about Brennan
Standing within the depth chart: (QB) Myles Brennan
Offensively, Quarterback Myles Brennan looked impressive
Myles was the most efficient of the four signal-callers

Myles will transfer to Tulane and finish out his career and keep an eye on the family business.

There is no "family" business.
The Brennan restaurants are owned by various people, not by a family.

I didn't check all your links, but that last one is kind of meh.
I missed most of the Spring Game, but tried to scroll through some it.
Wasn't Brennan more decent in the first half, but Max was somewhat solid in both?
It says Max lead the team with 2 TDs, but really he actually could have had 3 if not for the lame penalty? With that TD does he then certainly win the first and second half?

Unlike Jordy, I don't think this is decided. IF Brennan were, himself, to take a step forward and Max didn't, he'd be the clear starter. IF Max takes a step forward, and Brennan doesn't, Max would be the guy.
Very good point. I think it's more likely that the second year guy takes a big step forward then that the 5th year guy does.

This is complete and unsupported bs. I hate when people say “It’s not even close”
People only say "it's not even close" when it's so close that argument won't really get you where you want to go.

I think it's tight and that fact makes me want to give max the nod. If a senior qb who sat behind arguably one of the best college qbs ever at least as far as dissecting defenses and knowing where to go with the ball and you can't learn enough to seperate yourself from a sophomore then I roll with the guy with more upside and hope that with the 2 to 3 years that I have him running the offense we can make a run at a NC.

There's nothing any of the QB's did Saturday that should make anyone draw the conclusion that one particular guy is the clear #1 and "it isn't even close." They all did some good things, but none of them did anything that should make you think "damn he's going to be Joe Burrow."

One thing he did not mention is seniority
This should not even be in the discussion. The person that gives a team the best shot at winning should start. Even if he/she is a true freshman walk on

In the 3 games Brennan was our QB He threw for 300+ yards and 3+ touchdowns. To say he hasn't shown out when he's been on the field is a bit disingenuous
Brennan played like arse against Miss State. Offense stalled out way too many times. Stop looking and numbers and watch the tape

If Brennan was that great signing Burrow would not have been needed.

Brennan is coming off a catastrophic injury and Johnson is benefiting from recency bias. Either one could win the job, it's not clear cut.

he did really well against Missouri improving a lot there in a pretty short time.
We lost that game literally on his arm. He had two passes from the 1 yard line and basically threw the game away trying to force it to Marshall on consecutive plays. LSU had the ball last with a chance to win and he didn't come through. It's like he doesn't know when to pick up his game . He's like Matt Ryan. He's not going to lead you to any comebacks, but he will do his part.
3rd and GOAL at MU01 Myles Brennan pass incomplete to T. Marshall (Nick Bolton).
4th and GOAL at MU01 Myles Brennan pass incomplete to T. Marshall (Joshuah Bledsoe).

Max and Myles played the 1st team defense in the first half. Here are their numbers:
Max: 4-10 60 yards 3 sacks
Myles: 11-15 106 yards 1 TD 0 sacks
Again I really don't care what either guy did in the 2nd half against the 2nd string defense.

Lol we lost that game because we had the worst defense in school history

We lost that game with absolutely no commitment to the run game and some shite red zone play calling. If you are no threat to run, passing on that end of the field is all that much harder.
His TD to Gilbert, the long TD to Marshall, and his 3rd and long sideline bullet to Marshall were all things of beauty. He was slinging it. And let's not forget he played hurt most of the game.
Brennan had the unfortunate task of following Burrow. He's had no shot with this fan base.

I know this, no matter who wins the competition, people on here will bitch

I mean We gave up 44 points and couldn’t run the ball.
Brennan was very good just to get us to that point.

From the second half of the Miss State game as, Brennan was everything you could ask of him.
People act like he got benched.
