I was as big of a Nussmeier defender as anyone. And while I think no one could have had great success under Sloan, Nussmeier was making the same dumb plays last year that he was making as a true freshman. 5 years, 3 different OCs, same bad habits. Sure, he will make some remarkable throws that very few QBs would consider even attempting. But he will always fall back on bad habits/poor decision making. That's why he struggled to beat top competition at LSU. He's just too inconsistent. Too many moments or brilliance quickly erased by moments of stupidity by trying to play "hero ball".
He's the backup who will come into a blowout loss and make you think "this guy has it!"...only to then start 4 games and go 1-4 in those starts.

You wasting your time with rick....he knows it all. They don't mention that his Jr yest he had 2 good tackles, but the interior was dogshite and it was a jail break almost every play up the middle....

I agree with most of what you said there Alt. Nuss had arm talent - I do not think he was a great decision maker and I think that was an issue both before and after he was hurt.
For example that pic early second half when we were up 10 and poised to put it away vs. A&M turned the whole complexion of the game and snowballed, it was a really bad decision and he could have easily rug 5 yards hit the turf and got the first.
Same the next year in the Ole Miss game we were up 7-3 and driving and he looked over two wide open receivers to throw farther downfield into triple coverage for a pic that again changed the whole complexion of the game.
The arm talent is there, I'm not sure he's ever going to be a great decision maker. We'll see, I hope I'm wrong.

Qb A in sec play - 11 tds 5 ints 61.5% compl 130 qb rating
Qb B in sec play- 13 tds8 int 59% compl 127 qb rating
One of these qbs is Jordan Jefferson in 09 and the other one is Nuss in 24.

You realize that you can look this shite up right? Lsu was 8th in the country in qb sack % while being top 10 in pass play %.
don't let facts get in the way of your opinion
only 7 teams in all of cfb in 2024 had a higher % of passing plays called and yet lsu was one of the best teams in the country in pass plays ending in sacks.

I was waiting on someone to bring that up. It was throwback big 12 ball. Him being third on the list just means we haven't had much all world passing history wise for the program. Under kiffin I'm sure whichever QBs that end up starting at least 3 years will make into the the top 10. As qb needy as teams are in the NFL you don't damn near drop out of the draft because of you have an injury during the season. Nuss has arm talent so he can make a play every now and then but he cant "consistently" process. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be on a roster he's just not some burrow jr this board thinks he is. Ppl keep listening to these guys on ESPN who was crowning him qb 1 for the draft after the clemson game.

I always chuckled at that Cane's commercial when he is going through the drive in with the Mannings and Cooper is taking order, he tells Nuss - "your Dad says you are not good at making decisions so he already ordered for you".
I found it ironic. I just think this may be something he always is behind most of his peers on. Again, I hope I'm wrong, I'd like to see him do well. he came back and played hurt and played for his teammates - and played for LSU. I'll always admire that.

Yes he has. The Talking heads have spent preseason talking about the injuries of the OL. They are concerned because Mahomes is recovering from surgery due to injuries from last season.
They talk about how quickly Nuss can read a defense and throw accurately from different arm angles.
The Head Coach has complimented Nuss, starting at the first Press Conference, at the beginning of Pre Season. Nuss is starting the next Pre Season game. Mahomes is not playing.
Fields has been in the League about five years. With Mahomes injuries, both will probably make the team.

His stats are mediocre at best. It’s preseason, teams aren’t game planning for him. His biggest weakness has always been pressure which doesn’t exist in the pre season. I’m sure he’ll be a serviceable back up buts let not forget a lot of his horrible play was his own doing.
