Best starting 4 that I can remember maybe since the early 90s. I was a young boy during the 91/93 teams, however.
Hess
Marceaux
Walker
Hilliard.
That is a moist top 4.

It has the potential to be for sure, but look at each one and you can name a concern.
Hess- we are assuming we get Hess from over the summer, as opposed to hot/cold Hess from last season. (Although, Hess from last season would be fine if the other 3 are lights out).
Marceaux - hasn't pitched a single inning of college baseball. (Although we know damn well he has the stuff to be successful).
Walker - coming off of TJ injury.
Hillard - had a weird injury that caused him to be shut down for a very very long time. Maybe it's our history with those type of things recently, but I'm a bit worried it's a back and forth thing all season.
So, there is obvious reasons to be very optimistic, and it will be a special season if it all comes together. However, it's not a slam dunk for everything to be Rock solid from top to bottom.

There are 35 players listed on the spring roster at LSUSPORTS.net.

In my humble opinion, a healthy Hilliard would be a quality Sunday starter.

Hess is coming into his junior year and should surpass the humps of last year.
Marceaux is one of the best pitching recruits in a long time.
Walker has had 18 months of rehab, so I dont think injury concerns should worry us, but it might take him a little while to get comfortable assuming he healed correctly.
And Hilliard has progressed from well from his injury as what the staff says.
But yeah man, itll be interesting as to how things come together. The sky is limit for this team especially with the bats we will have. I hope it comes together.

I expect we will see a lot of guys on Sunday prior to SEC play.
Walker needs innings, command is the last thing to come back after TJ, and that was his calling card in 2017. I'm sure he will get first crack at Sunday, but I hope they find a way to get him 80 pitches a game, whether it be Sunday or midweek.
Midweek will be a lot of fun this season with the arms we have. Gonna be a lot of power arms for the McNeeses and Gramblings to deal with.

How good is this Easton McMurray kid? Can he step up to be a situational guy? He's the only LHP on the entire roster so you know he will get his opportunities. In my opinion this is the biggest concern that no one is talking about.

No clue how good he is, but if that is the biggest concern this team has all season then it's going to be a great year.
The biggest concern I have right now is the damn catcher position.

"Easton is the only southpaw pitcher in this recruiting class. However, he is poised to get back on the mound this fall and continue to develop his game that will allow him to reach the high potential that we think he possesses."

We sound deep enough to rotate weekend starters and stay fresh year around. Dam this is going to be fun

It’s befuddling that LSU only has 1 Lhp

So basically we can dominate midweek games is what he’s saying.

It's college baseball. It doesn't really matter that much. You don't see a whole lot of pitchers coming in for a batter because of a match up.
I would rather have 10 deep solid right handers, than some average left handers thrown in just because they are left handed. If they aren't there, they aren't there. This pitching staff isn't something to complain about. They should be great, but if it was totally injury free it would be almost untouchable....with just one left hander.

Still don't think Hess is a starter

It's going to depend which route he CPM wants to take. If the past is any indication, I'm not sure he puts much stock into midweek games still.
Is Hillard more valuable beating McNeese on Wednesday, throwing 6 innings and being done for the week? Or is he more valuable giving you 3 innings in long relief on the weekend? Having him as a long inning starter during the week also limits innings of the other guys CPM usually throws in for an inning or two in those games to get their feet wet.
Of course, some weeks we have two midweek games, so that's a different story. I'm mainly speaking for SEC play.

All the people saying this last year were wrong. This year I have a feeling you will be really proven wrong, without having an argument to make at all.

At least at the beginning of the year, it may be smart to have Hillard/Walker be the Sunday pitcher, giving Walker his 60-70 pitches then allowing Hillard to throw after him. That may help ease any durability concerns for either pitcher, at least until they have proven themselves fully healthy.
