He spoke highly about his change up. Said his fast ball was between 93-95, his slider was still good and his change has really developed.

I really hate the way that young players aren't being taught change-ups anymore. It seems like they all get to college and have to start from scratch with it.

A good changeup is 2nd only to a good fastball as a strikeout pitch.

We've all seen the potential and been waiting for Hess to hit his stride. Looks like another special year in the making.

Doesn’t Walker have a dirty change up too?

Updates on Labas? He was coming on strong late last year before the injury.

Also, can’t wait to see Todd Peterson batting clean up.

One of Walker's best attributes when he came in was his ability to speed up and slow down a hitter's bat. It's a lost art for most kids these days. They all just want to throw hard with a nasty breaking pitch.

Maybe just me but would Not pitch Hillard in any midweek games if possible, keep him fresh as a setup guy for the weekend.

We will have those 4 and that's not even counting Cole Henry, Nick Storz, AJ Labas

Scratch Storz off that list and most likely Labas. Add Todd Peterson and freshman sensations Riggs Threadgill,Will Ripoll, Chase Costello & Jaden Hill. This staff is deep

Not positive but I think I heard he won’t be ready at least until SEC play. I may be wrong though

Mainieri said he let Peterson talk him into having his “official” game program photo for this coming season showing Todd holding a bat & wearing a batting helmet.

Are we still at 36 on the roster? Or has someone else been cut since Chris Reid?

If we have Hess, Marceaux and a healthy Walker and Hilliard or rotation will be so filthy.

Walker?

I don't recall about him talking about Walker a lot. Maybe just a mention that he would be back. He mentioned watching about 6 pitchers throw today. He didn't specifically say who, except for Hess, who he went into details with. Then he mentioned Marceaux and said about the weekend rotation. He maybe said Walker's name here, but don't remember.

He didn't bring up Hillard, but was asked specifically why he didn't mention him. That's when he said he watched him throw off the mound today for the first time since last year.

I don't think he mentioned Labas or Stortz at all. He did not talk about each pitcher individually (only ones with the details I gave), so I wouldn't look much into that situation either way just from that interview.

I think Project is the roster guru here. He keeps a detailed list of roster numbers. He is your guy for that question.

IDK about all that, but I have come to enjoy baseball season more than any other LSU sport over the past 4-5 years.

He is too good to keep out.
