Whatever he decides to do I'm fine with honestly. There are options this season, which beats the hell out of last year when the staff was held together with super glue.

LHP are just as important in college. You said they weren't. Happy?

I'm glad we were able to find something to complain about - the lack of left-handed pitching. We MUST have something!!

How many truly great LHP are there in college baseball? Would you rather have Hess, Marceaux, and Walker all weekend or somebody that's average just because he's left handed? That's all I was trying to say. Of course I would love a great left handed pitcher. Who wouldn't?

Not complaining but just a glaring omission with the way the roster is constructed. You need at least a few guys at your disposal

I don't think it's so much a complaint but more so identifying a deficiency. All teams have them, one of ours currently is LHP.

exactly. It's not like we have a deficiency by design, it just works out that way sometimes.

You have to wonder if Cabrera will have to pitch at some point this season

Why would he have to pitch? He hardly pitched last season when we were short on arms. It seems the staff is loaded. I doubt he touches the mound.

Yall are putting way too much emphasis on lefty lefty match ups.

This shite is not that big of a deal

I think you are overvaluing the need for left handed pitchers on this staff.

LHP get LH batters out with much more ease than RHP. That matters late in games. I can pull the numbers for you if you want

Maybe I'm overly optimistic about this staff, but I agree. I'm expecting big things from Fontenot, as well as Peterson to be solid again in the 9th.

So, let's look at a post season situation. You have whoever starts that day. Then you turn it over to Hillard, Fontenot, Peterson. Are you wanting to ball out of those pitchers hands, no matter who is batting?

Maybe it's a rare occurrence where a hitter smashes right handed pitching and can't touch a lefty. In that rare occurrence hopefully our one lefty can benefit us there. How often will that happen though?

I mean, sure, it's a small hole in the pitching staff. For the reasons I said above, I don't think it's a big issue.

How many totally dominant left handers are pitching in college baseball? I would love for LSU to have one or two, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I don't think that 90% of college LHPs are good enough with their control to truly give a platoon advantage.

Would I like to see LSU with more LHP on the staff? Yes. I don't think it's some glaring weakness though. We had two JUCO LHP transfers last season that were little more than warm bodies.

1. How many teams only have 1 LHP?

2. You don’t have to be a dominant LHP to get lefties out

That's my whole point. The majority of the ones who would be good enough are in high demand and get drafted out of high school. The value of a great lefty can't be overstated, but it's because they are so rare.
