“We” play a top 20 team next Sunday. Followed by a solid SMU team. If you are going to contribute to the discussion at least look at the schedule before doing so

That's a team that was 14-20 last year and 3-29 the year before that. DePaul is a terrible basketball team.

My point is LSU was only about a 5 or 6 point favorite. DePaul may not be good but they arent Alcorn or Mississippi Valley bad. So to see LSU win that game by 30+ was encouraging.

I hope I’m wrong but the sports media picked us to finish 15th out of 16 SEC teams and I think that’s about right

Not saying they're making the final four, but you haven't watched very much SEC basketball if you think that's accurate. The conference is significantly weaker than the past few years and LSU is significantly better.

Agreed, but I liked what I saw from Miller last night. With Reed down, that might allow Miller more mins in a rotation with Nwoko, get into a good rhythm.

Deal. Just saying give this guy a chance with everything even. Inherited badly depleted roster and little NIL money. With those things are changing.

what I find interesting is that when the theory was proposed that McMahon was underfunded and now he is a little better funded, and optimistic fans like me said that seems possible, you negative fans got angry like lunatics and said it was a lie and I am an a-hole for even entertaining it, and that coach is stupid and terrible and knows nothing and then you guys say "mcsomething" like mcstupid or whatever over and over.

seems plausible to be he simply didn't have great players before because we couldn't afford them and now he is more middle of the pack.

if I may paraphrase will wade: "you cant with e kentucky derby with a mule, you need thoroughbreds".

Thomas and nwoko are good, they have some depth, they can shoot. should be a decent squad and coach mcwinner is decent. no reason with a competitive budget he cant do fine.

If you hit 54 free throws in a row you must be good in basketball.

Matt McMahon is a very solid basketball coach who catches a lot of flack because he doesn’t show a ton of emotion on the bench.

I dont know that this statement is totally true. At times in the past it looked like really bad coaching. No offensive sets causing us to take bad shots at the last second, poor offensive movement, lazy defense, not blocking out and getting rebounds…..the fundamentals.

But this team looks much different. Getting to the paint, getting rebounds, physical defense, able to switch. That is a lot about coaching! He can clearly coach it, but it seems like he has struggled in the past to coach it consistently. I like what this team has done so dar this year though!!

He hasn't really been at LSU. We finished 15th in the SEC with 3 conference wins. He hasn't had a ton of talent, but when you don't have a ton of talent, you need to coach them up and fire them up and his demeanor on the bench has not worked at all in that regard.

With that said, he"s a likable guy and I'm pulling for him to succeed. I'll reserve judgment for when we start SEC play, but being 5th in the nation in scoring after 7 games or whatever is at least something encouraging regardless of the opponents. So credit there.

I think McMahon will do just enough to keep his job here for next year but not much more. He is a pretty average coach.

Way too early to be talking about tourney team. Enjoy the wins if they come.
Considering how few we have had to celebrate in the last few years. Getting Thomas has made this team much better. He is like a coach on the court which is exactly what we need. Reese didn't look too bad but he does like so many and dribbles at the top of the key way too much. Thomas comes down and immediately gets everyone moving and into the offense. They know if they hustle and get in good position Thomas will get them the ball.

The fans and the media in louisiana do not know basketball, will not understand/consider your points in this post (including the fact that LSU and USCe invested the least in their rosters through last season, and don't respect cerebral coaches who don't consistently display their emotions outwardly.

When the AD throws money at his failed football coaches like it was coming from some virtual printer, there is no money left to hire any competent, proven coach in any of the other programs. It is astounding how they came up with the money for Mulkey.
If the coach at LSU basketball is successful, it will only be due to chance and that coaches drive because the money machine broke.

Well, I've been a "Naysayer" and like you, I can't wait until Mac becomes successful.
That won't alleviate the Buffoonery of Woody and his Band of fools, who fired Orgeron and Wade. That is etched in the history of LSU.

Pretty sure they lost to teams without a pulse last year... like Pitt and SMU. But it's fine that KM beats all these trash teams by 50+pts.

Pitt was in the top 25 for a while after beating LSU
SMU was also a bubble team last year, went 24-11 in the ACC
