Just like the idiots who say LSU has the best [insert position unit] in college without watching more than 5 minutes of any team other than LSU and the opponents they play on game day, they also thought Cole Tracy would be the best FG kicker in the draft

NFL teams don’t want to kickers.

So you would have to pair him with a punter who could kick off. Have not seen too many of those.

Does not have an NFL leg. That was obvious when he was here. Not a knock on him and we all love what he did for LSU.

Great, accurate short range kicker for the college game where you can afford to carry multiple kickers. I’m the NFL, you have to be able to kick off, kick field goals and hit from deep.

Remember LSU kicker Wade Richey from the 90's who couldn't hit the side of a barn but ended up having an 8 year NFL Career?

Richey also had a huge leg. His issue was mechanics and accuracy. Also, full disclosure, he spent 7 years in the lague and only attempted field goals in 5 of them, with a combined 2 attempts his last 3 years. He had one really good year his second year in the NFL but his accuracy issues really never went away outside that one year.

Wade Richey sprayed the ball all over in college but kicked in the NFL for what, 7-8 years. All about the gun more than the aim.

i swear he hit every upright and the crossbar on the north goal post in the same game once without putting one THROUGH the goalposts.

but damn he could kick it into the stands from like the 30.

Explore football outside of LSU and you'll realize he couldn't hold the jocks of NFL caliber kickers.

My son wants to be a kicker. Hard to imagine the heartache ahead...but hey, somebody has to (try to) do it.

Cole has been invited to the XFL draft so he may still have a pro career. Article says he is working on getting stronger and increasing his distance on kicks.

That kick was money!!!!!!

Txtiger54Cole Tracy not in the NFL, wtf by Txtiger54Haven't kept up with former Tigers going to the next level but how in the he'll is Cole Tracy not in the NFL. That guy is $$$, won the Auburn game on the road no less. Any explanations.

Love him as a Tiger and would have won us more games if we had him for 4 years.

His power was just not enough for NFL as it was not for his accuracy, he was clutch and consistent.

The NFL get the pick of the best and wish Cole Tracy the best.

Maybe someone can pick him up when they start missing 35 yarders to lose games

Yes, like a lot of teams - they'll have two kickers on the roster.

Unless the second kicker is a starter at another position, NFL teams do not hold two kickers on a 53 man roster.

Think about this. 11 players on offense, 11 players on defense and each position has a backup so that is 44 players. That is 9 positions left. You have a kicker and punter, that is now 46 players, 7 positions left. Teams have at least 5 WRs, so that is 3 spots... 4 positions. Most teams have more than 2 RBs. They don't have a lot of room. Because you want to at least have another OL, DL.. DB.. Its more valuable to keep other guys on than an extra kicker.

Can you name some guys that have done that? Preferably within the last decade.

Vikings kicker Dan Bailey was 21/28 last season.

He was 16/17 under 40 yards. He was 4/9 from 40-49 and 1-2 from 50+.
