they beat A&M.

I think Freeman has the making of a good coach, but he was handed a better situation.

He was a continuity hire with big upside and he’s basically been copying Brian Kelly’s homework for 3 years.

This! When they took over their respective teams one took over a team in the playoff and the other took over a team with a WR starting at qb in a bowl game.

In those "39 players" was there not 1 QB on a scholarship or a walk on?

The comparison shouldn’t be Freeman to Kelly, It should be Freeman to Sanders.

Both African American coaches started the same year at a major P5 gig.

Sanders sells his program by promoting himself. Freeman gets his hands dirty and grinds to prove he’s worthy of the ND job.

I’m taking Freeman 10/10! Better coach, better recruiter and better work ethic!

I would have loved to see the defense had he chose LSU when we were after him.

They also beat Texas A&M, LSU didn't. That's two teams (not "...worth a damn...") they beat that LSU couldn't. Just sayin.
They played TAMU game one with a coach in his first game there. and Weigman played the ENTIRE GAME. LSU was crushing TAMU when Weigman was in. LSU was beating a more developed TAMU with Weigman at the helm and making it look easy.

Here's your myth.

Orgeron's last two seasons at LSU was an abysmal 11-12.

quote:

“On January 4th, we had 39 scholarship players. 39. As I said, on August 4th, when we report our first day, we’re going to get to 84. We might not get to 85, but we’re going to be at 84. So, we’ll get the roster back to where it needs to be in very short order,” explained Kelly. “You know, mid-years, as you know, we only took 17. Look, that is not how I will build a program here at LSU year-in and year-out. But we needed to address that gap that I just mentioned to you for us to get to 84. This isn’t Triple A — this is the SEC. So, you better have a full roster of really good football players when you show up. You can’t have 72 scholarship players. Or the guys running down on the field, they’re not going to be SEC players.

Kelly's last two seasons at ND 21-3

Freeman has to make a deep playoff run/win a title to prove he is better than what Kelly was there.

So what about the fact that LSU played USC with a QB that got benched and ND beat that team with his replacement??

Yes, I agree that Notre Dame has a powder puff schedule most years. Let's see Marcus Freeman face SEC caliber talent week after week and then we can make a comparison.

When are yall gonna stop saying this dumb shite? Michigan just won the national title, Texas is the best team in the SEC and we played one common opponent this year. Notre Dame whipped USC and USC beat us.

Notre Dame vs LSU on a neutral field - Notre Dame would be -5.5 at least.

Three years later- Notre Dame is absolutely a better team than LSU

Freeman lost a game to Ohio State because he had only 10 players on the field and lost to NIU at home.

ND’s signature wins this season are over the service academies.

We had two common opponents. ND went 2-0. We went 0-2.

BK did inherit a worse situation than he left at ND, but he gets to recruit in a more fertile region now.

So BK can shut up and win games.

pretty much every strength of schedule you find anywhere has Notre Dame with a significantly weaker schedule than LSU.

quote:

Michigan just won the national title

what does that have to do with Notre Dame's schedule?

quote:

Texas is the best team in the SEC

not sure what that has to do with Notre Dame's schedule either.

Texas played 1 team that finished in the top half of the SEC (A&M finished win 9th place for the 2nd best finish among UT opponents).
and they lost that game.

we played one common opponent this year.

we played 2 common opponents

ohh, we're playing this game now where we pretend the results of one game are a perfect predictor of some hypothetical game?

OK, we beat Vandy and OU.
since both of those teams beat Bama, that means we kicked Bama's arse, right?

They’re 4 spots below us in team recruiting rankings on On3. That’s pretty much the same.
