I've learned that when crunch-time hits, you work 20 hour days, if needed.
You hit the nail on the head with if needed.....you should never have a plan that requires people to work overtime to hit a deadline, objective, or budget.

Who the hell is this? Wasn't that some Samoan wrestler from WCW back in the day???

Good enough for you?
well, he’s probably using HB meaning the old school term Halfback.
as the Fullback became more rare, the term Halfback faded into the more generic Running Back.

Shouldn't he have been working on this offense in the off season, then he wouldn't have to sleep in his office!

So he is working his arse off to win the game Saturday and you are bitching because he prepared for the wins against Miami and SE La.
If he wasn't putting in the time and effort to win, I imagine you would be bitching about that.
Work smarter, not longer.
Don't we have a bunch of analysts doing all the time-consuming grunt work that OCs used to do? I'd think that frees up E's time quite a bit.
Football isn't rocket science, although so many want to say it is. Determine Auburn's defensive strengths and weaknesses, and determine our offensive strengths and weaknesses. Plan plays accordingly.

You are probably right but if somebody is gonna try to trash a coach for his X and O knowledge you should try to at least get the terminology correct.

I agreemit fricking dumb to criticize him for putting in the work.
We shouldn’t be happy with the offense, but I am any shortcoming are not because of a lack of effort on Es part st any time.
That being said people wouldn’t be bitching if we were averaging 50 points a game and 500 yards and E slept at home tonight.

Wow, drawing up weak-side HB dives in the pistol formation must be taking up a lot of his time!
wow, what the frick do you know about anything you piss ant.

I think we have a getting it coached problem. I don’t think what is being coached is bad but obviously our execution continues to be disappointing

You think the analysts are responsible for coming up with the offensive gameplan?
There was a thread on here bragging about how they came up with three gameplans for Miami. Now they can't even come up with one for Auburn?

i like Steve and all but sleeping on the job is not good
Posted on 9/12/18 at 12:51 pm to young_fortinbras96
I don’t care where Steve sleeps. I care about LSU having a productive and efficient offense vs Aub.
If the man needs to sleep in his office to produce those type of results for LSU football, then so be it.

Tuesday night is getting kind of late for figuring out a game plan. That gives us less than three days to work out the new kinks and wrinkles.

Can you please elaborate on this? I don't understand what you mean when you say scheme. What is an example of scheme and how does one implement it?
I don't want to get into a semantics argument.
Scheme is an implementation of a philosophy. A quality scheme will consist of an implementation of formation and personnel that help gain an competitive advantage. A poor scheme will give a disadvantage. An obvious example of scheme difference is wishbone vs. a spread RPO based offense. Those are two different schemes that have both been effective over time.
Implementation of the scheme are the hundreds of teaching points that need to occur to each position group so that the fundamentals of the advantage occur. For example, a WR that needs to run option routes based on defensive alignment is engrained to do so based on specific keys. The QB needs to understand those reads as well, obviously. Spreading a defense out causes protection issues as well. RPOs (Ensminger mentioned wanting to implement this) is another level of complexity.
Great offensive coaches can take philosophy to the field. The position players have a strong understanding of their roles and responsibilities because they have been coached specifically to fit the scheme and, presumably, the scheme is effective. Those coaches have spent thousands of hours planning, testing, and proving the best way of implementing each teaching point to make the offense go.
In short, taking a TE coach, even one who understands the game better than most, giving him the reigns, and telling him to go implement something that he has never done has a very low chance of success.
It inevitably is going to look vanilla. It's going to look disjointed at times. And, it's not going to resemble a specific style to the degree that other offenses do.
Having said all of that, LSU's struggles to date are more a function of the OL than it is of the scheme. Just don't expect a scheme change to solve that.

Thank you for the explanation. I totally agree with you.

After that explosive offense display we all witnessed in the second half against Southeastern, "Slinger" may have been sleeping in the coaches box last Saturday night.

This is one of those empty platitudes that O says to quiet people. Says what people want to hear.
There is a 0% chance that E slept in the office. O sounds like a politician.
