I feel like he left out the part where O told him you have had a little to much contact with your future agent. I say this in no way as a criticism of Fournette but I think the relationship may have been a little close for compliance.

Did Orgeron also make him sign with his agent, making it no possible to travel and be with his team on the sideline?

Maybe O did tell him he couldn't play, and I have no problem with it. I like a coach looking out for his players best interest in that situation.

Signing with an agent at that time was his decision
I don't know much about Fournette, besides him being a badass RB. But, it almost feels as if he signed out of spite.

Like a situation where he would say, "Aight coach, I can't play, well I won't be traveling either, because I'm signing with my agent."

I don't want to say it's an F U to coach O, but it almost feels that way. Even though it appears O was just looking out for his best interest.

Truth be told', it was kind of a win/win .Fournette got to avoid the risk of additional injury and LSU got to play Guice who I think was playing just as good as Fournette at the end of the season.

This is my take on it as well.

I have no doubts, none whatsoever, that Fournette wanted to play. That's part of what makes Fournette such a good guy.

I think he's one of the best to suit up in the purple and gold and for everything I'm made of, I don't see him making a choice to just not play, on his own. His ankle had been dogging him all season and O knew what was at stake, more than likely losing Fournette to the draft and looking out for LF's best future interests.

Signing with an agent was Fournette's decision but once that was done, his collegiate ties, as far as NCAA rules are concerned were severed. Maybe he didn't know that at the time he made the decision to sign with an agent, I don't know.

But one of the last things I'd believe is that Fournette suddenly just said the heck with the coaches, his teammates, etc.

The media will put their own spin on it, of course, but above is what I think happened.

Why does having signed with an agent bar a player from being on the sidelines? His professional status is not a contagious disease. Is there actually an NCAA rule against this? Please cite the rule if you know it.

I don't know the exact rule but it's my understanding that once he signs with an agent, collegiate stuff is no longer an option.

I wish and think he should've been on the sidelines too.

Maybe someone else knows more of the ins and outs of signing with an agent than I do.

that may be correct that a player is also banned from any contact with teh team during a game..

It might also be an old wives tale as many things are which get repeated often enough they are believed.

It just seems curious since that a player who signed with an agent is considered having turned pro and no longer able to be with his team, yet true professional NFL players are often seen on the sidelines of their former schools during games.

I'm not disputing that. Like I said, I don't know all the ins and outs of signing with an agent.

Maybe there's some clause when a player signs with a professional sports agent to pursue a career in the pros that prohibits him to be with his former team.

When he's neither pro nor collegiate athlete. I really have no idea which is why I said maybe someone else might be able to shed more light on it.

Right. They've already played, be it even a down in the pros. They're already considered "pros."

I'm guessing it's along those lines. If it were up to me, I'd let him travel with his team for the bowl game.

This is being made to sound as though the decision came out of nowhere. Like Coach O just randomly decided LF7 shouldn't play. No. That wasn't the case. The decision was made based on a number of factors. 1) IT was a foregone conclusion that he was going pro after the season. 2) He had been injured the entire season to the point where he already missed several games. 3) Although he looked great in some games, in others, he was detrimental to the teams success due to his limitations with the injury. It was clear that playing in the bowl game could potentially hurt the team AND Foutnette. It was in the best interest of everyone that he didnt play that game. It was the right call.

I have no idea what your trying to say...
But I'm just happy LF decided to commit to LSU and not Bama like some of the other Louisiana kids.....so it does matter when he decided to go Pro...I appreciate everything he's done for the Tigers.

Doesn't make sense at all. There is more to this story. If o didn't want him to play because of his ankle, that's fine. But why could t he travel with the team? Makes no sense to me. Someone is not telling the whole truth.

I have no issue with this. Guice was the far superior back all year.

I hope nothing but the best for LF7 for the rest of his career and life in general. He was a great back for LSU and it was a pleasure to see him tote the ball.

That said, I feel as if his 2016 season was a complete waste. From him hurting his ankle numerous times to him signing autographs in uniform during a game in uniform, to not being able to surmount significant yardage against our archer nemisis another season, to the bowl game absence.

I hope time heals these wounds for both LF7 and the LSU family.

If O was here three years ago, Fournette probably goes out of state just like seven of the top ten Louisiana guys did this year.

People can down play losing those kind of players all they want, but it shows a serious problem going on with guys not being sure about the current LSU football coach.

If it happens next year, we got a real problem due to Alleva going cheap.

I don't believe this for one minute. Look it could have happened like this but it sure didn't look like that from a outsiders point of view. No one will think less of LF7 for sitting out the last 2 games. He had been fighting to stay on the field all year. There is only one thing that will heal a high ankle sprain and that is long term rest. The only thing that bothered me was him not traveling to A&M and the bowl game to be the leader for the team that he has been throughout his career.
